The Rangers have used up all there cap and cannot retain Shanahan. I know at 39 he is now well past his prime. Solid two way player and even at 39 is still very durable. I think signing him to a 1 year contract at 2 mill might not be a bad idea. He will bring that veteran leadership many of our young guys could learn from. He will most likely net 20-25 goals. Big body in front of the net. Will add than needed toughness up front. Could play 3rd line perhaps step in on the 2nd. Love to see a 3rd line with Goose in between Shanny and Kotalik.

I think he would be looking for 3 to 4 million or he may hang it up.

Ive never beena huge fan of him either as hes such a douche bag.

No way, just by going off of the profile of things Darct does its not in his nature. That would be considered a high profile move and Darcy does Under the Radar moves. Now they have worked in the past however, still too big of a name.

He will never sign for 2 million and the Sabres will not pay for him.

We don't have the cap space for him without dumping salary in return, and we don't need another winger. He'd add veteran experience, but he's old and doesn't do what he used to a couple years ago. If anything we bring Numminen back for cheap for more defensive experience. We've got Paille to sign, I'd rather Darcy did that. Just wait until arbitration hearings begin at the end of the month. Teams will be scrambling to move players away at that point.

Maybe Brendan is...but had it not been for him convening that war council of owners,GMs & players during the lockout to brainstorm ideas on how to improve the game,we might very well have had the old rules in place when the players got back to the ice.

He made 2.5 million last season with the Rags. Maybe he will get 3 but I doubt any team will give him 4. So 2 with some bonus if he hits certain goals isn't unreasonable.

Maybe Rivet isn't as high profile as Shanny, but I wouldn't consider him Under the Radar move picking him up.
