It seems Tiger Woods isn't much of a hockey fan.
Woods, the world's No. 1 golfer, told reporters Monday that he had no preference when it comes to who captures the Stanley Cup, the Detroit Red Wings or Pittsburgh Penguins.
"I don't really care," he said. "Let's talk about the Dodgers.
"I don't think anybody really watches hockey any more."
Woods made the remark on a conference call promoting the PGA Championship, to be played Aug. 4-10 at Oakland Hills Country Club in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Township.
Detroit leads Pittsburgh 3-1 in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup final — the first championship showdown between the two cities since the 1909 World Series, won by the Pirates in seven games over the Tigers.
Since then, Detroit teams have won 21 pro sports titles: the Red Wings with 10, in 1936, 1937, 1943, 1950, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1997, 1998 and 2002; the Pistons in 1989, 1990 and 2004; the Lions in 1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957; and the Tigers in 1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984.
Pittsburgh's pro franchises have won 11 titles since 1909: the Penguins with two, in 1991 and 1992; the Steelers in 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979 and 2005; and the Pirates in 1925, 1960, 1971 and 1979.

Well, it's not like he's lying, or is wrong.
And I guess when you're that dominate at your profession, that rich and successful, you can be as arrogant as you want.

Let me guess...the next words out of Tiger's piehole were....
"The golf course looks good. My golf swing feels good. I like my chances."

I would watch a hockey game a hundred times over and over again before I sit down and watch a golf tournament. Golf is so boring I don't know how people like golf but don't like hockey.

""You know what? I'm gonna change the name now. It's gonna be Tiger Wuss. Here's a guy that took about three months to get over a simple arthroscopic surgery. You look at [Pens forward] Ryan Malone. His face exploded with a slap shot last night - he's back out in 10 minutes!
"Keep your yap shut, Tiger, or I'll send a couple of wingers down there - [Pens forward] Gary Roberts - to tidy you up a little bit, meat head.""

No doubt. There's no telling what people find interesting. Look no further than a thread last week regarding the possibility that Buffalo might get a second-tier arena football franchise (that's right...these will be guys that can't make the NFL, NFL Europe, or AFL I).
Someone said there that arena football is much more exciting than hockey. I couldn't believe it. To each his own I guess. So I said I've been to one AFL game and I was bored to tears. By the reaction to that statement, you woulda thunk I said Trent Edwards is an average quarterback or something! Sheesh!

Well the number that watches hockey can be divided in half, and thats the number of people that watch in door Lacrosse. Hell of a celebration they had for thier championship. What 15 Minutes of Glory sandwich in between two terrible bands in Thursday in the square. Not quite the parade of excitement everyone was anticipating was it?

You know it's a weird thing I think. Hockey fans love hockey, whereas people that have never really been exposed to it couldn't care less. It's like there's no in between with hockey - you're either an addict or the only hockey player you could name is Wayne Gretzky.
Seems weird to us I guess, but that seems to be the way it is. Other sports are somehow more "universal" for the average person. (I'm talking in general here, North American TV ratings kind of stuff - I'm not talking about Canada bduff.... trust me, I married a Canadian - I know how it goes up there).

Tiger is a vag... he can't swing a golf club if something so simple as a camera clicks. Ever watch him fly off the handle when that happens. Like to see him get off a drive into the fairway with a 220lb defenseman bearing down on him. If he had made that comment with a hockey player there he would be crapping his 3 wood for a week.

I think the main reason people dont have an attachment to hockey is because Americans aren't the best at it ands it's made up of players from other countries.
If the US Men's Hockey team made it to a gold medal game, most of the country would watch.
You need that attachment. If you have that attachment, it's the greatest game to watch in the world IMO. When I watch a Sabres game i am nervous the whole game, you never know if a rush will end in a goal.
But when I watch another team play, I reall dont pay attention that much or I flip back and forth on TV.

Tiger, unfortunately speaks the truth... and unless you are from a town that has hockey in it, you don't usually care... for the record....being from Buffalo... I love it...
It is just sad that he said it because what he says usually carries so much weight... He will no doubt become the worlds first Billion dollar athlete...

Hmmm. Thats great. I don't care. I like it. It doesn't matter to me who likes it and who doesn't. I'm not going to get overly defensive like you are above, because you can't accept the fact that nobody cares about hockey.
What does that have to do with Tiger Woods or his comments anyway? Absolutely nothing. It's ok, you can keep rambling about completely unrelated topics though, good post.

I could care less how many people like the NLL. Tiger Woods would probably say "what the hell is that" and laugh it off. I wouldn't care, unlike the majority of you who seem to care what Tiger Woods thinks about hockey.
And at least the Bandits have won something....

Seriously. I really don't give a rats ass who cares about hockey, let alone a guy like Tiger Woods who rivals Paris Hilton in terms of being in his own little world. Think about it. The guy is an endorsee for a living who happens to play golf incredibly well. The only contact he has with the outside world is with country club members. I'm sure the conversations he has with "regular" people don't go any deeper than "GET IN THE HOLE!" and a polite wave.
I wouldn't expect Tiger to even watch hockey.
Furthermore, his opinion to me on any subject does not matter. Some comments he's made in the past make me realize how warped he really is. I guess that happens when you're a child prodigy with the ultimate obsessed parent living their life vicariously through your accomplishments.
