Man, that organization is a machine on and off the ice.
They do everything right, they have the best front office, they have guys like Jim develano as bloody support for ken holland, that is nuts.
They draft amazingly.
They lock up their top guys and make them feel like they are wanted by paying them what they are worth.
And they have amazing ownership.
so impressed.

Yeah, but they don't come up with innovative things liked curved nets, gutting a scouting department to save money and relying toally on video and face-painting at Sabretooth's house. You know, the important stuff...

Detroit just seems to have an uncanny ability to draft some amazing players in the late rounds of the draft. Hats off to them, they have been at or near the top of the league it seems like two decades now.

I feel like this was a shot at the Buffalo management hidden behind a "wow detroit is great" message.

we have no GM, no head coach, no team captain we have not made the playoffs in 3 years. do you really think i would have the balls to call out buffalos management?

Can there truly be any other shots that can be lobbed at the front office? It's stale... How's that one.

I lob facts, not shots.

It's called scouting, and the Wings scoured Europe for the best. Sitting in a room looking at tapes and DVDs is not going to prove effective. Having a cadre of astute talent evaluators with an eye for nascient talent roving Europe and actually seeing those players in a hockey environment is exceptionally effective, and the key to the Wings' success. The most damaging decision the Sabres have enacted will prove not to be their ineptitude at signing their leadership core proactively. Rather, it will be their abandonment of live scouting for their half-assed, and of course, very cheap, approach to player identification and assessment.

It's hard to not like them remembering that they were once the laughing stock of the league until they got Yzerman.

Thats what 18 consecutive playoff appearances, 4 cups in the last 11 years will do. It kinda makes every thing a little less special each time.
