The Sabres have been very busy ever since the end of the season and I was wondering which of the six guys the Sabres signed will get the furthest with success. It can be long term and not just for this upcoming year.

I'd rank them:

Enroth
Butler
Gerbe
Kennedy
Persson
Schutz

I like Chris Butler.

Then Gerbe.

For Enroth to be a major impact, Miller has to be off this team, I don't think it will happen, at least not for 6 years.

Good point, I guess I wasn't really taking that into consideration. My list was based on assuming they are all playing in the NHL.

Butler, Gerbe, and Enroth are the 3 favorites right now. I obviously hope they all succeed, but I think Enroth and Gerbe have the best chance, followed by Butler and Kennedy. Schutz's success hinges a lot on the chemistry he has with fellow Germans Phillip Gogulla and Marc-Andre Gragnani. Persson was fortunate to be signed, and I'm still bewildered as to why we bothered when all I've heard about him since the draft is that he hasn't developed at all. Maybe coming to North America and spending a season or 2 in the AHL will help, I'm expecting him to be a bust that might never make the NHL, but I hope he proves me wrong.

It took Miller about 5 years in the system to get to #1 status. So, you're not that far off.

Gerbe will have the biggest impact. Stafford and Pominville both basically said playing with him at the worlds that he's already at the level to play in the NHL. That's not even close to true with any of the other players signed.

Gerbe just seems to have that special something. This kid has all the potential to be a Daniel Briere with a mean streak.

I really like Butler watching a lot of his games in Denver I belive he will be a good pro.

But my vote goes to Gabre. The guy just dominated this year and carried BS on his back to a National Championship. He looks like he can be a superstar in the NHL.

I have Enroth coming in thrid.

The reason the Sabres signed has to be because they have no depth on the blue line and there just taking a flyer out on him in hopes he'll turn it around.

Persson will play the first year of his 3 in the swedish elite league...kind of a head scratcher to me but I guess Darcy is fine with it.

I really don't think they are expecting much from him, which is why they aren't in a rush to bring him over. I just think they signed him because there was no reason not to.
