The Bisons came into this homestand 7-16. After sweeping two games from the Pawtucket Red Sox, spliting two games with the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees and taking three of four from the Charlotte Knights the Bisons had a 6-2 homestand. So the Bisons are still five games under .500 at 13-18, but things are looking up. The hitting seemed to come around a bit. I am still waiting for this team to explode and put a ten spot or something like that on the board, but they got timely hitting. The pitching which was supposed to be the strong point of this team, lead the way on this homestand. Jermey Sowers and Jason Stanford both had great outtings that lead to victories. The troubled bullpen put things together, with Bubbie Buzachero and Rich Rundles coming in to get wins when the starter could not go five. Rick Bauer has remained a rock at closer all season, but even Edward Mujica who has struggled all season got a couple of saves, granted he seem to have gone to the school Joe Borowski for saves. He could not just go one, two, three like Bauer, he had to let a runner or two on before closing the game out. But this is a start to climbing the standings. Yes, the Herd is still 9 games behind the first place Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees but they are only a game behind the fourth place Rochester Red Wings, who have found life much harder when they don't play Lehigh High Valley for five straight games. It's one step at a time to get to first place.
