Wait, wait, wait moderators....please hear me out

I know this isn't exactly BB related, but with a slow period before camps coming up(other than 6/1), I was wondering if maybe, maybe we might be able to keep one thread on the WC on this page. Obviously, if no one is interested, it would just go the way of the Flutie/RJ pages and drift in to oblivion. However, I think there might be interest in this thing, at least a little. Additionally, if you really think about it, is every thread really based on the Bills? ;)

I know most WNYer's could give a care about the WC, much like I was early on. However, I think if people gave this event a shot, they'd realize it truly is one of the best events in the world. Even if you don't know the players, the national pride can captivate.

So, here goes: The loss of Keane(Manchester United Captain) is a devastating blow to the Irish. Relatively weak team to begin with, but this kills any chance of advancement IMHO. Unbelievable....

Also, I was wondering if anyone wanted to get a fun pool going based on team predictions/drafting teams. I'm open to ideas on format.

If I'm pi$$ing in the wind, don't mind me..... ;) Thanks much

Good for you Bduff! That will be a ball.

Can't count out the Irish(nor would I want to), but that's a huge blow IMHO. Stranger things have happend, but will need some people to step up in a big way. Very disappointing.

With regard to the pool, I'm open to any and all ideas and I think we could get this done in a day or so. To make this go faster, we could just do a list draft. The point scoring system would be the one where I'm stumped on. Lastly, how many people should we let in? My intital thoughts would be 4 or 8, depending on interest.

Lemme know what you come up with in the next day or so and maybe we can pull it together by early next week. Thanks.

We'll leave this thread up for a day, but It's off to the water cooler.

I really disagree with those who think we move stuff just to let it die. As we speak, 20% of the members on line this instant are either in the WC or the Asylum. With 250 members 10 months ago, it wasn't a big deal to keep this stuff on the hardcore board.

But with X10 members now, we really need to keep things organized.

The other forums are as dead or as alive as the members want to make them. The Asylum and Sabres boards are getting more traffic than ever. Even the WC is beginning to take off with lively Boxing talk, political discussions, ect....

Heck, we will even accomodate the world Cup fans by sticking a thread or two at the top of the Water Cooler forum if you wish.

We need to be sensative to the wishes of the Bills hardcore fans who just want to talk football, even at the slowest time of the year.

Thanks for understanding...

Brazil all the way. They won it in 94. Took a dive in 98 and will be back this year to win it all.

I love soccer. I played it all through out high school and played recreationaly some in college.

Unfortunately MLS and most other games on TV suck. However, the WC rules! A have a lot less interest in BB and hockey playoffs with the WC right around the corner. They should have it every 2 years

I checked out most of the three prelim US games. They are looking way better than in past tourneys

As for a pool, you can count me out. Gambling is for idiots and really rich people

also, soccer is the best sport to watch while high.

BBM-thanks much. I hope I wasn't implying you moved it to kill the thread-that wasn't my intent at all.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on how to structure this? If by default we can't come up with anything, I found this free site that is team-based, but also has some crazy point schematics:

whaddya think?

Did you know who played soccer?

Our very first round pick: Mike Williams, obviously goalkeeper.
