If any of you know anything about soccer i just recieved the most devestating news. RoY keane the Captain of the Republic of Ireland and Manchester has just been sent home from Japan and will not be Participating in the World Cup. Apparently he got in a massive Argument with Mick Mccarthy has been sent home. He has disgraced my country and should be banished to England. This is the equivalent of Drew Bledsoe, Marshall faulk leaving the World cup of football

sorry reeves i didn't mean it like that. i mean he should just stay in manchester and never come back. he is a disgrace, he is our captain and best player and acts like a child.

Seriously, it can't be more boring than a baseball or basketball game. I might watch a game in a few weeks after I'm done with moving.

Ireland has any easy group but I think Germany and Cameroon will beat them in a thrilling 1-nil match to advance to round 2.

Frankie , to some of us who lived outside of the US actually know football I mean socccer to be the best sport iin the world. Soccer is the American term. Granted I love US football too I wonder why they call it football when 90% of the time they use their hands.

They are playing the World Cup right now? One more reason to like the fact that my husband has become a hockey fan. I can watch soccer just not from beginning to end.

Actually I would take some time to learn the game but it is boring enough to watch a real game going, I can't imagine how pathetic it would be to try and learn this horrible sport.

I saw a doc marten's league Crawley Town vs Kings Lynn when I was visiting my wife's nanny in Crawley. I'd love to go to a Premier League, or a World Cup match.

YES!!! I agree completley. I'm a huge soccer fan (maybe because I'm Italian :D ).
Anyway saying that soccer is boring or that its just guys kicking a ball back and forth is like saying football is just people running into each other, hockey is just people skating up and down a rink, basketball is just people shooting a ball towards a hoop over and over again (wait it is :D ). Baseball is just a guy swinging a stick at a ball. The bottomline is if you've played it and you know whats going on one realizes soccer is the best game in the world (the way it has caught on all over the world is proof).
As far as the best game in the USA it has to be football.
Oh and Italy = WC champions
Vieri, Totti, Del Piero, Maldini, Cannavarro, Nesta, Toldo, Buffon all these players are top 10 in the world at their respective positions and all are on one team. FORZA AZZURRI!!
ok. my rant is done. :D

CalBillsfan it is very true about those players, they are top 10 palyers, but the knock on Italy is that they play too defensive, it's a very physicall football they play, and sometimes they are not too aggresive on offense.
But as I always say with World Cups, the favs are in not particular order, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Argentina and France, maybe this year an african team can be the big surprise.

I thought Mick Mccarthy said if he comes back, I quit, or over my dead body or something like that?

May 27th, 2002, 2:02:08 PM
he did Doug, but check out www.rte.ie he is considering Roy keanes's comments fron earlier today. I have a feeling he may be back. It's too big a deal in the country for the 2 of them to let their personal feud get in the way of the development of irish football.

You've forgotten who else is in that group.. that's right GERMANY. We have tons of injuries and some motivational problems, but I think we should easily win this group.
If not, I guess all my picks are wrong. :D
