I saw that there was no page on this kid. Better late than never, huh? :D

I like this kid a lot. A poster over on ThePhins pointed him out to me, and so I looked in to him some more. I watched the Senior Bowl again this week and he really stood out to me. Good size and speed... and one very key thing that caught my eye... 35 & 3/8ths inch arms!

In terms of athleticism, he is extremely similar to Chris Long...

Chris Long's 40-time: 4.75
JT's 40-time: 4.75

Chris Long's 10-yard split: 1.53
JT's 10-yard split: 1.53

Chris Long's Vertical: 34 inches
JT's Vertical: 32 inches

Chris Long's Broad Jump: 10'4"
JT's Broad Jump: 9'9"

Chris Long's Bench Press: N/A
JT's Bench Press: 25 reps of 225 lbs.

Chris Long's short shuttle: 4.21
JT's short shuttle: 4.23

Chris Long's 3-Cone: 7.02
JT's 3-Cone: 6.97

If we dont get a guy like Groves at #32... I wouldn't mind targeting Thompson at #57...

I swore I made a thread for this kid but it may have gotten lost in the shuffle and our search function kind of sucks

I think he can play DE or OLB

He's got good lateral agility and moves well for his size. The problem w/ him is he really needs a lot of work w/ tech because he's got problems disengaging blockers when they lock on. A sign of this lack of tech can be found in that outside of his 6 sacks hes got only 1 QB pressure in 46 games(and yea that is not a misprint)

A team that gets him is going to have to be convinced that they can improve his tech and field awareness. If they can he already has the natural athletic ability to be a pretty good player

He seemed to be able to shed blocks pretty well in the Senior Bowl...

I agree, this is an upside type pick. More raw, but has all of the physical tools.

I think he would be a good pick at #57. What do you think in terms of where he should go?

Anywhere from 2-4

Thoughs teams that missed out on C.Pace may look at him as a younger version

Thompson and Robertson seem pretty similar 3/4 OLB or 4/3 DE. What is interesting this year is that there seems to be more of a variety in the type of DEs available, at the top of the draft, guys like Long and Merling are very athletic 4/3 left ends or base ends in a 3/4, most left end types don't seem to find themselves in first round consideration, let alone upper half or top 5.

Harvey to me is the wild card for the Bills, I think he and Mckelvin are the two guys who could be available at 11 and that have the biggest chances of making an impact early in their careers.

If the Bills decide to wait till day 2 for a DE, then Robertson and Thompson are at the top of the list for me.

As an OLB too or just a DE?
