It’s always fun to draft players with comical names in the final round when every other name on a team’s board is gone, but a more useful way to gamble on a very late pick is by adding a player with local ties. University at Buffalo product Trevor Scott might be a long shot to even get drafted, much less stick on an NFL roster. But his adaptability and work ethic are assets that should compel teams to consider choosing him late, including one that would have had to send a scout a total of about 20 miles to see him.

At 6-foot-5 and 258 pounds, he’d need to add mass to get to and much less stay in the NFL as a defensive end, although Scott happens to possess decent size for a tight end were he to be switched back. Hmmm, would a team that needs all the help at that spot obtain take a flier on him?

Regardless of where teams see him aligning, one thing in Scott's favor are reports that he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds at the Bulls’ pro day, decent speed that would theoretically render it difficult for pass blockers to hold him back or pass defenders to stick with him. The closest for-profit football franchise should particularly find that time as well as those thoughts interesting.

After his Pro Day..he'll get drafted.

He could be looked at as a 3-4 OLB or as a designated pass rusher in a 4-3, but someone will take him in the later rounds.
