View Full Version : Thibault?

Do you think Thibault deserves another shot next season?
It's very possible, judging by his two impressive shutouts this season, that Lindy's boner for riding Miller into the ground may have also adversely affected Thibault's play.
Plus, I love his bucket.

Even if the Sabres want him back I'd be surprised if he wants to come back after the way he was used this year.

If the Sabres are serious about making the playoffs next year, they'll find a more serviceable backup. They obviously learned they can't play Miller as much as they did, and they shouldn't have to, thats what backup goalies are for. They have to be able to land someone that can do a much better job, maybe even a bit younger. I honestly see it as a huge mistake to bring back Thibault next season.

No way can he come back. We need a real backup.

I think if we improve the Defense, both Goalies get better.
But that's just me.

I think Rob Ray put it best, he didn't come through for Buffalo when they needed him during the middle of the season.

Not unlike Miller not coming through in the stretch

I knew this shutout would be bad. I bet management is thinking the same thing as you right now. I sometimes do question if Lindy didn't play him enough and give him enough of a chance but then I look at his stats over the last 4-5 years when he has been a backup and they are god awful. This guy is not a good back up.

Or during the shoot-outs.

3-4-2 with a 3.31 GAA in 12 games played. That's the problem right there. He only played in 12 games, a quarter of which he didn't even get a decision. That's not enough to make a good judgment one way or the other.
Honestly, Thibault should have got more starts during the stretch. Even if he played as bad as he looked for all those games, and he gets shelled for 8 goals on that night, it's still only one loss. Miller would still be rested, and most likely a lot sharper, and probably wouldn't blow nearly as many games with those soft back-breaking goals he let in.
As far as bringing him back next year, I really don't care one way or the other because Ruff is going to ride Miller like that next season too. It's just how he does things, and a backup that gets 12 games a year, a quarter of which are mop-up duty, isn't going to be any more or less serviceable either way.

Ya and I don't see him staying on the island since he won't be a starter till 2022-2023 season. If it doensn't work out with Miller this guy could be a spilt starter with Enroth. Let's go Sabres, sign him come July 1st.

Why, he is the best prospect for the Sabres, who COULD be the future starter. We are not aloud to speculate on here??

Has anyone on this board actually seen him play a game? I'm not saying he won't be good. He might be, but honestly he's a completely unknown commodity at this point and some people are already making plans around him. Let's at least wait until he comes to North America.

lol. no man u can speculate all you want. i am just tired of speculation and people getting excited about players and/or deals that are never going to take place. see last summer and free agency and the trade deadline this year. i am sure we are in for more of that over the summer.
plus, with regard to enroth, we are wildly speculating about his POTENTIAL ABILITY in the nhl. let's not blindly annoint someone.

Having played for two different traveling teams as a goalie, I can attest to how difficult it really is performing as a back-up keeper. Given the "D" we had this year (or lack of it), coupled with so few actual starts, I think that the jury should still be out regarding J.T.'s future with the team. Put a decent defense in front of him, and I think he comes through....just my opinion, others are welcome to disagree.

I'd take Dubielewicz for the sole fact that the kid's Polish.
And he has one of the meanest shootout poke-checks in the game.
