....I am officially eligible to be elected President of the United States!

Hehe. I already have a Birthday thread, so this is not to garner more Birthday wishes.

However, I actually thought it would be a good idea to ask the board what they thought about the age requirement for President.

Is 35 too old? Too young? Should there be any Constitutional law requiring the President be a certain age, anyway? Or is that in itself age descrimination and unconstitutional?

By the way, you only have to be 30 to be a Senator.....and only 25 to be a member of the House of Reps.

I think it should be bumped up to 40 myself.

The youngest man to ever hold the office, Teddy Roosevelt, was 42. So, we've never even needed to make a law to make it 40. It's been that way anyway.

I doubt anyone will ever be elected under 40. It would have to be a VP who ascends like Teddy did.

But, in any event, I go back and forth on this. So, just to play Devil's advocate....I'm not sure I agree with any age requirement for Pres other than 18. It's a position elected by the people, and if they want someone younger to be their leader, that person should be allowed to serve. ??

Yea I was thinking about how no one had been elected under 40. JFK was 43 right? Age obviously isn't everything, but a limit needs to be there. Just one of the many reasons, is your don't want a 25 year old as commander in chief. You don't want 61 year old idiot running it either but that time is almost over. Here's another reason and I quote:

"The president is the chief executive of the United States, putting him at the head of the executive branch of the government, whose responsibility is to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed". To carry out this duty, he is given control of the four million employees of the vast executive branch"

Would you trust a company with a 25 year old CEO? A president needs experience, whether it be from the Senate, House, Governor or some other way.

There should be no minimum age except maybe 18.

Hey President Capaccio.

After elected, would you mind making me Secretary of Homeland Security.

I'm itching for a little power and some coin on the side.

Don't ask me what I'm up to Mr. President. Just remember that the first of every month there will be an envelope on the desk of the oval office stuffed with large denominations.

Maybe it was there. Maybe it wasn't. Just don't ask.

When the BBC reporter tosses out an inquiry about bigtime shakedowns coming from HS, you can deny knowledge of the whole damn thing without ever fibbin'.

I'll take the fall.

Then you pardon me 6 months later and I get a talk show contract. ;)
