Xmas tree in the bears den? Are they now dumping things in the cages? Its like Merry f'n xmas, heres a new blue ball, to play with in the water. It is depressing.

too each his/her own but i dont find it depressing. Especially when animals like the siberian tiger that I took pics of are almost extinct due to hunters. The captive #'s far outweigh the wild. I do however enjoy the Toronto zoo alot better due to all the exhibits having much more of a natural environment feel to them. Either way i'm a zoo member and my kids love it. Depressing or not.

197 pictures at the zoo? Jeez, how many do you think I will take when I am in Vegas for four nights in a month? Seriously though. great Pics. I will definitely be posting some of my Vegas pics here or at least a link to my flickr account.

While not exactly zoos, two of the places I plan to visit while in Vegas are siegfried and roy's secret garden and the shark reef at mandalay bay.

Toronto zoo kicks ass. But the buffalo just seems like they dont try. look at the bears. couple of rocks and pool, a ball and thats it. Couldn't they do some other things.

This is the new rainforest exhibit being built. Supposed to be opening mid 08'. Between that and the Sea Lion/Otter exhibit I would say they are finally tossing some money at the place. It has always been a difficult sell for the zoo to get funding. But hopefully this is a turn around for them.

boring....sometimes.....but not depressing.

i just feel bad for the animals...they're wild animals that belong out in the open wandering around....in zoo's they live this pathetic caged life... i just feel bad for them, zoo's depress me....

i realize not everyone feels this way.

In the wild they get killed for their skins, horns, meat, fur or just plain battle. At least the Zoo is a place where the animals can live in somewhat peace without fear of of dying. If I throw you in the jungle with nothing but your bare ass to fend for yourself or give you the option of being in a zoo were it will be done for you and you will be taken care of.....I would imagine you'd choose the latter. The long and short of it is that everything in this world is a business. Zoo's make money. Regardless of how people want to spin it, it's a business. That is why it's here. I enjoy it, but to each his/her own.

Some zoos are great for the animals, like San Diego's and Toronto's. Buffalo's needs some funding, so they can build more comfortable places for the animals.

you're right, to each his own, but for the record, you're wrong; I'd rather live free and die free, than live my life in a cage.

Good looking family ya got there. So when ya gonna show some of your Zoo pics? LOL I have a yearly pass at the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester. Fails by far to these. But my kids love going to the Zoo and it makes for a great family outing.
