This paper came out a few years ago and talks about how teams over value their ability to select the appropriate player for their team.

It's been a long time since I've posted in here. I'm not sure if it's been talked about or not, but I thought I'd post it to see what you think.

I just came across it recently and found it interesting. It says that per dollar invested in a player (to the cap), the value of picks in the first round increases as the round progresses. It shows that basically the late first round and second round are the most valuable slots to select players.

So only more reasons to trade down...

I think Bill Polian also mentioned this offseason that the draft contract system should be modified because the top contracts are too large.
