TE DAVIS TO VISIT: In addition to a pre-draft visit from Michigan State WR Devin Thomas, the Bills will also reportedly have a visit with Thomas' teammate Kellen Davis according to Scout.com. Davis is a big tight end with unusual athleticism for a player his size. At 6'6" 262 pounds he ran a 4.59 40-time at the combine and had a 33-inch vertical. The only knocks on him are his one year of producing like many thought he should in only his senior year. He had inconsistent practice habits prior to this past season. He also got into a fight in 2006 that led to a four-game suspension. If the report is accurate, the Bills likely want to get more of an explanation from Davis on the fight and what happened and see just how committed Davis is to football and whether what he put up his senior year is now what can be expected of him year in and year out.

Whats the deal with Kellen Davis? 6'6 262 and 4.59?

WHy arent more fans campaigning for Davis? I see Keller, Bennett, and Fred Davis posts all over, no one seems to like this big boy.

Good question. I watched a few of their games this year and he stood out to me more than Devin Thomas did.

I guess it's his attitude. He looks alot like Kellen Winslow when suited up.

I think it was his lack of production up until this football

Strengths:
Has terrific size and a large frame with room to bulk up further...Understands how to use his body to his advantage...A great natural athlete...Good ball skills...Runs well after the catch...Displays potential as a blocker..Still has considerable upside.

Weaknesses:
Doesn't have great timed speed...Soft and is not very physical...Not a great route runner...Questionable instincts...Plays with poor leverage and footwork...Marginal blocker at best...Has some character issues...Has been a bit of an underachiever.

Notes:
Brother Josh Freeman earned a letter in 1995 for the Spartans...Also played some defensive end as a senior and notched 2.0 sacks...Missed some action in '06 after being suspended as the result of an aggravated assault charge...It appears as if the light finally started to come on for him as a senior and he basically doubled his previous career totals...An interesting physical specimen but a boom or bust type.

He's a workout warrior who never really played up to his potential. He gives an inconsistant effort week in, week out. However, some of the same issues with the past coaching staff that may help explain D. Thomas lack of production until this season may also explain some of his issues.

This draft is loaded with good TE prospects. any of the top 5 would represent a major upgrade for us.

There ya go, that could be it. Not saying it is, just something to take into consideration.

As a Bills' fan, I kinda know what its like to watch talent go to waste :)

Kellen Davis in the right system can thrive, he's a hard working TE who isn't afraid to block for ya.

What if we drafted the MIch. St. players in the first two rounds. That would be crazy.

That's why I like Mike Rucker. A TE who's thrived in a two TE system.

I have been all over Davis since the end of the season. None of the TE in this class to me look like sure things. Davis impresses me the most with his size/speed/strenght/athleticism combo. Plus he isin't rated as high as others so he might be had in later rounds.

If he were there in the 3rd round and we already addressed WR and CB then I would hope he becomes our next pick.

In short because he plays the game with the toughness of a girl scout
