Pelosi is having a fit of queen bee syndrome. There can be only one queen bee in the hive and Pelosi wants to be her. She has taken sides and stuck the knife in Hillary. Well done Nancy, at least you have the brass ones to take sides. If Hillary wins the nomination and then the Presidency, we'll at least have the satisfaction of watching four years of catfights between these two.

Pelosi's delegate stance boosts Obama
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent Sat Mar 15, 5:02 PM ET

WASHINGTON - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says it would be damaging to the Democratic party for its leaders to buck the will of national convention delegates picked in primaries and caucuses, a declaration that gives a boost to Sen. Barack Obama.

"If the votes of the superdelegates overturn what's happened in the elections, it would be harmful to the Democratic party," Pelosi said in an interview taped Friday for broadcast Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

The California Democrat did not mention either Obama or his rival, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, by name. But her remarks seemed to suggest she was prepared to cast her ballot at the convention in favor of the candidate who emerges from the primary season with the most pledged delegates.

Obama leads Clinton by 142 pledged delegates — those delegates picked in nomination contests to date, in The Associated Press' count.

Barring an unlikely string of landslide victories by the former first lady in the remaining states, he will end the primary season with a delegate lead, but short of the 2025 needed to win the nomination.

That gives the balance of power to the so-called superdelegates, prominent Democrats who are automatically entitled to attend the convention because of their status as members of Congress or other leaders. Clinton leads Obama for their support in the AP count, 249-213.

Pelosi's comments could influence other House Democrats who are neutral in the presidential race and will attend the convention as superdelegates.

In her interview, Pelosi also said that even if one candidate winds up with a larger share of the popular vote than the delegate leader, the candidate who has more delegates should prevail.

"It's a delegate race," she said. "The way the system works is that the delegates choose the nominee."

Everyone has assumed that Obama was an "upstart", but it now appears that Mrs. Clinton is the real upstart. It seems that Obama was chosen quite a while ago, how else to explain the negative media coverage Mrs. Clinton has gotten, and the early Kennedy endorsement for Obama, and now the House Speaker pretty much telling her to just go away. They're all corrupt.

Riley: If memory serves, some time ago it was all but assumed that it would be Clinton v. Edwards in the race to get the nomination, with Obama all but forgotten.

Shows you how much conventional wisdom means to everyone outside the Beltway. It doesn't mean squat.

Concur wholeheartedly ckg and it goes on in both parties. I also think that a lot of the dems want to see the Clintons leave the stage. They are to powerful and to divisive. They see this as their chance to cleanse the party of them. Fat chance IMHO and the Clinton's have long memories.

They're finally figuring out something we have know for years. The left loved them when they used all their dirty tricks against the right but now that the turrets are aimed at the heart of the democrat party they aren't so fond of them. The Clinton machine has finally found some traction, thanks to Ferraro's political sepuku and now they may be able to tough it out till the Super Delegates meet. That'll be a great time to watch the 24 hour news channels (maybe not so fun if you live in Denver).
