Here is PFW newest mock draft released today. It has the Bills with a very suprising pick in the 1st round. If this occured do you all think Spencer Johnson could play DE behind Schobel?

Their commentary on the pick makes me think they don't realize the Bills brought in other DTs after cutting Tripplett.

Yeah, but Ellis would be hard to pass up. If the draft went like this, it would allow a team that would want Ellis trade up to #11 and take our pick.

Spencer Johnson is a DT/DE player who could fit into the rotation. I like Ellis but he would still need time to develop, so the rotational system would work well for him. It would be hard to pass up on him if he fell to #11. VERY UNLIKELY.
Bills are almost certain to draft a WR with the No.1 pick now that Johnson has signed with the 49ers.

Spencer Johnson can take a few reps at DE, but he is primarily a DT. I sure woun't want to see him as Schobel's primary backup. Ellis is a good player, but if he's available at #11 and he is the BPA, it really puts the Bills in a very awkward position. They would have at DT; Stroud, McCargo, Williams, Spencer, and Ellis. Even though Ellis is a rookie, the Bills would want to give him some reps, in part because he's a first round draft pick with a first rounder's salary. Moreover, he needs to play if he's going to develop proper. At the same time it shoves the Bills needs (WR, CB, TE, C, DE) all back a round and makes it more likely that one or more of those needs will not be adequately met in the draft. All in all, it's a tough choice to have to make.

If Ellis is still on the board at #11, you ask Scottie to give you warp 10 to get the pick into the commissioner's hands!

we arent taking a DT!!
it doesnt make sense especailly with us losing out on a FA WR, our main needs our WR, and CB. y would we waste a pick for a backup DE???

Ellis is not a backup DE, he's a rotational DT who will start in 1-2 years and dominate.

I would have an orgasm if at #11 we have the choices -- Sedrick Ellis, Keith Rivers, etc. -- that this draft envisions.
The first WR isn't off the board until #20.
I would grab Ellis in a heartbeat and feel lucky to do so.
Then take a WR in the 2nd round.

I have no problem with a Stroud, Ellis, McCargo rotation at DT. Keep them all fresh.

Ellis has the potential to be a difference maker. You draft him and if Stroud gets injured or his play declines you have a replacement. In the mean time, you have the best dt rotation in the NFL.

itd be fun to see stroud on the nose with mccargo and ellis on each side of him in short yard situations.
also with the creep look, a couple of fairly athletic dt's in mac and ellis would be a good look.
ellis would be as close to a sure thing as we could ask for.
at this point though I hope some how we go hardy 1st, calais campbell 2nd, and cottam in the third.

1st round = BPA regardless of position. If a player like Ellis falls you take advantage.
