If I was forced then I would take Sweed @11

Sweed. I'd rather trade down at get him later in the first, but I won't be upset at 11.

I think that the Bills will have a hard time trading out of the No. 11 spot. As things stand now they will have little choice but to take a wide receiver. The good news is that they should be able to get their choice of all the wide receivers available. Sweed is the guy that seems to be the best choice. Good upside and he is a senior, so he should have a little more maturity and experience than Kelly, making him able to contribute a little sooner (Maybe). In the second round the Bills might even be able to get the best tight end in the draft as well. Not a bad result, despite not being able to take the BPA.

Sweed. IMO, he's hands down the best WR prospect in the draft.

I don't know why anyone would choose Kelly. This guy haven't done anything since the end of the season. How do we know if he will be healthy for the start of the season? This guy must have got pretty injured, will it impact him for a long time? You could honestly say the same thing for Sweed but I am pretty sure Sweed has at least shown his face this off season. I would say the guy that seems the most ready if the season started today and is pretty good would be Thomas but 11 seems a little high for a guy that had one good season in a not so strong conference. I think the easiest way of deciding on who to choose is to choose none of them and take the most talented guy on the board at 11 no matter what position.

I consider this an ample opportunity to once again proclaim how very much I don't want the Bills to take any prospect at the #11 position this year. Trade down first; then take someone. For instance, of Sweed, Kelly, Thomas, and Hardy, I absolutely guarantee you at least two of those four will still be available should Buffalo trade down into the late teens/early twenties. In fact, I'd say the odds are 50/50 that three of the four might still be there.

IF a trade down is possible, then do so. I wouldn't mind seeing them drop all the way into the late first, if the right trade is available.

My WR preferrences are:
Sweed - though the injury is a red flag. At least it isn't his knees or achilles.
Kelly - tremendous potential
Devin Thomas - outstanding production (1 yr) and potential.

Beyond those 3, definitely no others at 11. If dropped to 20 or later then the additional
candidates, in some order (closely bunched):
Early Doucet
Caldwell
Earl Bennett
Jordy Nelson.

I would stay away from Manningham and Hardy. (attitude and off-field issues)

Just my opinion...

The more I see of Devin Thomas the more I like...but I'd still put Limas Sweed at the top.

Sweed's wrist isn't causing problems with him catching and that's what receivers do.

Sweed's wrist isn't causing problems with him catching and that's what receivers do.

what does this even mean?

his wrist injury that caused him to miss what 6 games this year and for him to and I might be mistaken here, not participate in receiving drills isnt' causing him problems with catching?

oh and I thought there would be more love for a 6-6 220 pound receiver who ran a 4.51, and did 18 reps, oh and just had a vertical of 37 inches, was an all american, second in the nation in touchdown catches.

Sadly, he didnt' go to osu, UM, texas, or usc so his lack of big time pedigree hurts.

Devin Thomas' run after catch is intriguing me.

I just picture Lee Evans running deep, Thomas crossing the middle and getting a 7 yard pass taking it 80 for the TD.

To say he had a wrist injury, I don't hear much about him dropping catchable balls. I'm supporting him EMO. If you break your hand, it should hurt to catch like breaking your leg and hurting to make a sharp cut, get it? Or do you need another example?

Devin Thomas WR 6'2 216 Michigan St.
By: Robert Davis

Thomas began his career at Coffeyville Community College, hauling in 33 passes for 674 yards and five touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2005. He then moved on to Michigan St, where he did not make much of an impact in 2006. Thomas blew up in 2007, catching 79 passes for 1,260 yards and eight touchdowns.

Thomas has everything you look for in a WR. He has good size, and is built very well. He has the strength and the bulk to cross the middle of the field and take a hit while holding on to the football. He combines that physical style of play with excellent athleticism and the speed to outrun defensive backs. His combination of speed and power make him tough to bring down in the open field and he is a guy that can break off big plays on a consistent basis.

The whole one hit wonder tag is going to follow Thomas until he proves himself in the NFL. His production was non existent until his final season. He will need some time to refine his receiving skills though, as he relied on his natural gifts last season.

Thomas is the complete package at WR and has the talent to be a pro bowler in the NFL. If he puts in the work and his team is patient, he could really blossom and develop into a go to receiver in the NFL.

2:11 against Wisconsin. Looks like Deshean Jackson, difference is Thomas is 6'2 216.

He is as quick as anyone, and probably the most physical WR in the draft.

Among the Michigan State regulars, WR Devin Thomas, who blitzed a 4.4 40 at the combine, did up his vertical leap from 28 inches at the combine to 33 at the team’s pro day while doing 16 reps pressing 225 pounds.

IMO the speed and tackleing ability of NFL defences compared to college Makes a good run after catch reciever so much less effective.A good rout runner with good hieght ,hands and smarts seems to be a better option.Limas Sweed has a great attitude good work ethic good blocking skills good hands and although he doesnt have as much RAC ability as say D. Thomas I believe him to be a more solid reciever and therfore a better fit.He also gives it his all on every play in every game I think this is the type of character that OBD is talking about when they say character.Sweed at elevin would be solid.

I don't get the lovefest with Kelly. He didn't even have 850 yards receiving this year.

Hardy is a beast we cant pass up on, especially if we took Kelly over him, :barf:

Devin Thomas.

The comments about his hands worry me a bit, but on the other hand, I also think he'll have a much easier time getting off the line of scrimmage and getting into his routes than the other taller WRs in this draft. Why? Those same skills that serve him well after the catch (short area quickness, change of direction ability and not needing to gather his feet before cutting) will also give him a significant advantage BEFORE the catch that these other guys won't have. The Bills will need to do their homework as far as his lack of production a year ago as well as whether he, as an inexperienced player, understands the complexities of route running, but if it checks out, he appears to be the best WR in this class, IMO.

Additionally, if they keep much of Fairchild's timing-route based passing offense in place, they're going to need whoever they pick at WR to be able to run precise routes.

That's what made me join the wagon, he's hands down the best route runner. And I like the way he looked the ball ALL THE WAY IN in the gauntlet. Mooch gave him some accolades too.

I like Devin Thomas the best out of this class. He has the best ability to turn the short to intermediary passes that our offense will be relying on into long gains.
