Do we draft Malcolm Kelly (I think he's a stud) or do we go CB. Unless you have a Deion Sanders in the draft, CB's take just as much time if not longer to develop than WR's. I don't see us going DL or LB with the 1st pick. I'm not sure that I want to trade the pick either. I really think that if Kelly is there, we absolutely have to take him. Give me your thoughts.

We are in a great positoin to pick the best player in the draft at a position of need....WR
I say if we have no other FA signings, we should go WR in round 1 and TE in round 2. Then we've taken care of our offensive needs on day one. We can then use all our day 2 picks to build the defense even more. We'd need to grab 2 CBs, an athletic pass rushing DE, LB and Safety depth and maybe a FB late in the day.
Everyone is so obsessed with defense, and rightfully so. But don't forget that this team failed to score an offensive TD in 5 games this season and set a franchise record for fewest TDs. SCORING MORE POINTS IS BY FAR OUR BIGGEST NEED.

I think WR in ound 2 and TE in round 4 or below.
In terms of needs I think the Bills are like this:
CB
WR
DE
TE
C
FB
In that order at this point. Then OLB back-up help.

War Room (http://www.buffalorange.com/forumdisplay.php?f=106)
There is plenty of in depth discussion of the draft in the War Room.
We have 100s of prospect profiles that you can access from our big board rankings (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=131470) offense positional rankings (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=130788),defense position rankings (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=131180), prospects by university (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=118588) thread and prospects by position threads (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=115173). There are plenty of Bills mocks in there also.

There are a lot of good quality CB and WR in the draft, which we need. There are also a lot of good OT, RB, QB (to a degree) and LB in the draft, which OTHER teams need. Our #11 pick is worth a lot to OTHER teams. We could trade down and pick up the equavilent of an extra 2nd round pick. If for this year- it would give us 3 picks in the zone {{25th to 50th player taken}}. Take any draft publication's player ranking (here is GBN) and there are 3 starters to grab. Pick 3 from WR, DB, OG, DT, TE positions from the following list: (our 3rd round pick is ~#75).
*#25 Kenny Phillips FS 6-1, 205 Miami
Kentwan Balmer DT 6-5, 290 North Carolina
Dominique Rodgers CB 6-1, 185 Tennessee State
Dan Connor LB 6-2, 233 Penn State
Limas Sweed WR 6-4, 220 Texas (X)
Sam Baker OT 6-4, 310 USC
*James Hardy WR 6-6, 220 Indiana<!--[endif]-->
Patrick Lee CB 6-0, 200 Auburn
*Pat Sims DT 6-3, 315 Auburn
*Devin Thomas WR 6-1, 215 Michigan State
*Anthony Collins OT 6-5, 310 Kansas
Ali Highsmith LB 6-1, 225 LSU
*DaJuan Morgan DB 6-1, 205 North Carolina State
*Reggie Smith DB 6-0, 200 Oklahoma (X)
*Branden Albert OG 6-6, 335 Virginia
Tracy Porter CB 5-11, 185 Indiana
Chilio Rachal OG 6-5, 315 USC
Quentin Groves DE 6-4, 255 Auburn
Chris Johnson RB 5-11, 200 East Carolina
Charles Godfrey CB 6-0, 210 Iowa
*Jamaal Charles RB 6-0, 200 Texas
Gosder Cherilus OT 6-6, 320 Boston College
Xavier Adibi LB 6-1, 225 Virginia Tech
*Earl Bennett WR 6-1, 202 Vanderbilt
Antoine Cason CB 6-0, 182 Arizona
#50*Erin Henderson LB 6-1, 236 Maryland
#57 Fred Davis TE 6-4, 250 Southern California
#67 John Carlson TE 6-5, 255 Notre Dame
#79 Martellus Bennett TE 6-7, 255 Texas A&M
We could get 4 starters from the first 3 rounds that way.

I would say that there was way too many WR that are very similar and really none stand out like Calvin Johnson last year. I would have to go with Cb seeing that after the first round there will only be CB that will sit the bench for a couple of years but with a wide receiver you can get one in the second that could make a difference in his rookie year.

The only difference from the top of my mock draft is I think DRC will go in the first 25 so I have Cason instead - I would gladly make the switch, although I think that evaluation is incorrect. I would get my OC with the #75 pick - Mike McGlynn.
I agree 100% with the trade down philosophy in this draft for the Bills sitting at #11; that position is more valuable in trade than any single player the Bills could likely select there.

I think that if we can fill our need at WR2 we will be in amazing position heading into the draft. We will be able to get some excellent players who will help build this franchise back up and make it strong for a number of years. What we won't be getting are players who will be starting on opening day. This is a good thing. Finally we won't be forced to draft to fill gaping holes in our lineup. The likely result (barring injury) is that whatever young talent we get will have more time to develop and learn the game before being thrust into the lineup.
A wide receiver is not likely to have much of an impact until later in the season in their first year (if at all), a cornerback will be used in situational roles until they acclimate and the tight end will probably be eased in in two tight end sets and as a receiver. Linebacker is the position that seems to have the quickest impact and even if we draft one, there is no room for them to start. No center is ready to replace Fowler from day one and if we draft a fullback they will probably take a while to pick up the system. Defensive lineman will contribute as a 3rd down rusher at best.
Buffalo will finally have a draft class that will not be forced to take the field right away. It will help the development of these players. I see us drafting a TE, CB, WR, C, FB and a LB. None of these will start and probably only the TE, CB and FB might get significant playing time as the season moves on. We will use other picks to add depth but none of these will see the field much.
This is how the better teams work the draft and how talent and depth is built.

Keep the pick go best player of need- Kelly is the choice for me- We need to create points- EVANS/JOHNSON/KELLY- and the No huddle offense-

We're on our way to building a championship caliber Defense. Keep building. I say D rounds 1,2,3. Then WR, TE, OL with the rest.

MK's own coaches thought he was a 4th round prospect, I am not sold on him and he has proven nothing. He opted not to participate in the combine and sat our of his bowl game for a thigh bruise. He better blow up his pro day to even warrant #1 WR status.
