This isn't a misguided rant...

But, in the last week or so, we've beaten the teams that we should (Toronto, Tampa, Nashville, a now terrible Ottawa)

And we lose to the teams that are right there with us battling for a more secure playoff spot (Rangers twice, Philly, Pittsburgh, Montreal)

Everyone likes to say that the East is wide open, and because of this we stand a legitimate chance to make the playoffs and make some noise.

But I seriously don't think so...we lose to everyone who's getting into playoff mode, and beat everyone who knows they probably won't make it.

Unless we REALLY ramp it up (and that starts with Miller) we're probably a first round exit AT BEST.

completly agree, everytime we think the team is starting to get revved up they go and play an absolutly horrible game. We have no consistency except for being inconsistent. I thinkit needs to start with the defense as a whole but Miller is part of that.

It tells me we are average. Great if we make the playoffs but we need a few more ingredients (Defense) before we really make a mark.

We definitely need some defensive help. We don't have any consistent "rocks" back there. It'd be interesting if Teppo came back.

i've been saying first round exit 4 games to 1 all year. with such a young team it looks like it will be the case, if we make it.

how embarrassing in philly makes it and we dont, we had what? like 40-50 more pts last year. way to EF it up DARCY

Friday night was an individual effort and a poor one at that when the Sabres decide to play a team game in both ends and sacrifice for eachother we may see some impressive hockey.Playing hard but not smart won't get it done,we need an effort like they exhibited in Ottawa a few weeks ago.We need that effort every game from here on in.

This team is not a playoff hockey team. Could they squeak in? Sure. But as most of you have stated, they will not get past the first round. I'd like to see them get 9th (avoid the thrashing of what looks like will be the habs) and spend the spring/summer, relaxing and thinking about other things. Perhaps this will give them the mind set to come back next fall and be a dominate hockey team.

Yes, because with 18-19 games to go, all the teams that are hot right now will remain equally hot at the end of the year.
