Flip a coin. No idea. On paper, Ottawa. On blood sweat and tears, Toronto.
With 7 guys out, I'm proud of the boys no matter what happens.

I've got money on the Leafs......At the same time I can't help rooting for the underdog small market teams. But like I said 2 weeks ago, GO LEAFS GO.

It should be one hell of a game and whoever wants it more will win. Which team will take the stupid penalty that leads to a Power Play goal ? Which player will let his emotions get the best of him ? Which goalie will crack under pressure ? With all those questions out there I would have to give the nod to the Leafs .. they have the emotion and in my opinion the pressure is on the Sens. I didnt think they were gonna do it but it looks like the Leafs are gonna advance ... IF they play smart and stay out of the box.

Leafs have a big advantage because the little *****er err.. Tucker isn't playing so he won't be taking stupid penalties
May 13th, 2002, 2:03:27 PM
If the Leafs win it will be close, by one goal. If the Sens win it will be big, like 5-1. That's just the way I see it, but I'm not about to predict anything anything beyond that at this point.

Ottawa 3-0, maybe 4-0 with an empty net
But good luck Leafs, I actually hope they win for the entertainment alone.

Sens 8-0, Avs 3-1
(Since Avs just forced Game 7 on Wed)
Next year, Philadelphia loses 7-0 in Game 5 for their first round elimination game.

We're way too close to the conference semis, Joseph is due for his annual meltdown. I really thought it would happen last game after the first 5 minutes.
Put the choke-chain on Cujo again, Sens will win.

I don't care who wins, as long as whoever it is beats the snot out of Carolina. I am a traditionalist and don't want to see a bunch of hockey illiterate yokels and corporate types enjoying the finals (see also Dallas). There is no fan base there, but the band wagon is pretty full right now.
Roberts, McCabe and Berg are running on fumes.
Joseph is due for a meltdown.
Ottawa's stupidity lost game 6.
On the other hand, the game is in Toronto.
No Charo.
Lalime has played way over his head.
All those euro players have minimal heart.
Flip a coin. Too close to call. I'll bet we see OT.

Can you imagine if the Leafs make the Conference finals only to be knocked out by a team from...North Carolina!
Oh...the...horror...the horror!

Sorry to burst your bubble Bduff, but it doesn't really matter. No one in the East will beat San Jose, Detroit, or Colorado. The East is inferior to any of those 3 teams. In fact, all 8 teams in the West might even have been better than any of the teams in the East.
It's been that way for awhile. The best thing about the East is that ANY team can make it. That's good news for the Sabres. If we were in the West we wouldn't have a chance. Once any of these teams makes it the Cup Finals, anything can happen. Hell, if James Patrick's shot in the 2nd OT is 1/2 inch lower we would have been in game 7 with the best goalie in the world on our team. Who knows, the Leafs could get San Jose, get a couple of lucky bounces, steal a couple of games early.....You never know?????? Gotta love being in the East! GO LEAFS GO.

No fan base in North Carolina ? I would have to beg to differ on that one there BuffaloSoljer. I remember last year in game 6 when the Hurricanes were elimintaed by the Devils. At the end of that game the fans gave the team a rousing standing ovation during the final two minutes of the game .. every fan in the building was standing and cheering as loud as they could just applauding the effort.. it was great !! Last night in Montreal most of the fans were gone halfway through the game. Is that the kind of "Fan Base" you are referring to ? Give the Canes some credit .. they are in the Conference Finals because they won and deserve to be there. Of course the bandwagon is gonna fill up, thats the case in any town with any sports team thats winning.. it goes with the territory. There is a solid fan base here in NC that continues to grow everyday. There are plenty of bandwagon jumpers but there are also plenty of true fans as well. Just because your Sabres are in financial ruin and years away from being a contender again doesnt mean you have to crap on a team that is playing its best hockey when it matters the most. Who cares if they are in North Carolina or not. I guess you think we all live in trailer parks with rollers in our hair looking for the news crews after a tornado. Contrary to popular belief we do not marry our siblings and all chew tobacco. There is more to NC than just Nascar and College Basketball. Oh by the way ... Hows the weather up there ?? Watch out ... theres a Hurricane comin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have to agree with caniac, i saw clips of the fans before the game and they were tailgating and stuff!! the sabres fans are terribly weak. i went to sens vs sabres game last year, it was horrible the fans were sparce and the atmosphere sucked!

Caniac-The difference between Toronto and Carolina fans are the that Carolina fans are Hurricane fans. Toronto fans are hockey fans.

very true, but give the ma chance player!!! you have to learn the game its not like they get hockey night in canada every saturday from the time they are 5 years old!! i'm sure half the fans in toronto don't know every basketball rule but they are still great fans!

It's nothin against Canes fans. It's just the truth. Toronto is the mecca for hockey they could sell-out two NHL teams.

May 14th, 2002, 10:59:33 AM
They were tailgating in NC because they thought it was a football game or NASCAR. I am glad they showed team support after game 6 last year, but that WAS the fan base - all 20,000 of them. We all know most of the true fan base can't afford to go to the games any more because of the cost. Outside of the people that go to the games in places like Carolina, Nashville etc.. there is no true fan base.

I went to a Boston-Carolina playoff game in Greensboro a few years ago and someone said that they thought a tie would be OK for Carolina...
The fans down there are buying tickets because they're doing well, but I'd like to see what the long-term prognisis for hockey in the Triangle is. I suspect they'll go back to watching Duke or UNC basketball next fall when they re-start the regular season with the Thrashers or Lightning...
