This has gotten lost in the Bernier, 8 goals, even Andrew Peters Scored hysteria, but Jocelyn Thibault was worse than atrocious in his short time in the net last night. That first goal he let in was surreal. Thank God Miller came back, or I'm not sure they win, even with 8 goals. Maybe he's rusted with disuse, but at this point I start Miller every game until a playoff spot is clinched.

Lydman did not help at all on that second one. Let the goaltender get the puck - FIND THE NEAREST MAN!
Tbow was shaky fo sho.

i agree, talk are already brewing about winning the north east and stuff, its not realistic. this team needs to focus on being consistent and making the playoffs.

Thibault is a freaking train wreck!
Is there a worse goalie than him in the entire NHL?

Brent Johnson...Scott Clemensen.... that's off the top of my head. He's not far down the list though.

He had a bad game when he wad in, as long as Miller stays healthy then atleast for this year I am not worried. Although I do expect Thibault to play better next time.

I wouln't be blaming T-Bo completely. Although the game was an exciting one to watch, the Sabres D wasn't very stellar. He was hung out to dry on the first goal.

The poor guy has been horrendous. But if we play Miller the rest of the way, he could be shot for the playoffs. He really is a bag of bones, I guess it's just a pick your poison kinda thing.

The only other option would be to call up Adam Dennis and his 2.96 AHL GAA. It can't get any worse, right? Miller is gonna need some time off.

T-BLOW is just awful. But both goals did come off of turnovers. TC on the 1st and someone else (drawing a blank on the 2nd), but still it wasnt like T-BLOW was going to make a good save. The guy is the worst.
I caNNNNNNNNot believe Conks is the best player in Pitt right now. It blows my mind!

We have played T-Bo before the deadline and every one can see he blows so why didn't we get a new goalie at the deadline? I am so sick of management and not putting in the little effort it would take for us to really compete. I am ready to call up our goalie from rochester because I can guarantee he won't let in so many shots.

If you watch that first goal closely, about 5 seconds before, Thibault went to cover it up, and Paille knocked it from his reach. It looked bad on Thibault's part, but the defensive play didn't help much.

The first goal scored on Thibault was a 3rd whack after two saves. The D has to clear out the crease for him there. I won't pin that one on him at all. The other, sure. But he was cold off the bench and thankfully, we still won.

Unfortunately Miller has started like 17 straight games. T-bo goes in with no warm up and gets no help clearing players from in front of the net. He isn't very good but that made him worse.
And Miller needs a break soon.

Yeah I was begging Miller to come back. Great point, because I noticed it too. Lets pray Miller doesn't get hurt because the flickering flame of stanely cup hope will be immediatly doused.

You know I never really realized this before but its true, Buffalo fans love to make excuses for thier goaltenders. Especially Miller and now Thibault. I'll get groaned so bad for this but I don't care anymore. I don't care if the Defense was bad, we know they are going to be, the only way we make the playoffs is with good goaltending. Miller has been stellar but we expect our backup to come in here and oh I don't know Hug the friggin post when a shot is taken from the face off circle. That way a Jason Arnott Slap shot won't find its way between your arm and your rib cage. But who am I, I'm no goaltending coach.
LET THE GRAONIN begin.

I'll stick up for a goalie that gets scored on with a 3rd shot, after making 2 saves in a scrum in which his D didn't clear the crease. But it's not like I want Thibault on the team next season...I mean seriously.

But its not like this is the first time that T-bo has sucked. He had a good game against his former mates in Montreal, but really has been pedestrian at best when he has come in and strated as well. Yes i'm not basing my opinon of him on coming last night, all I'm saying is thats the latest chapter of T-bo's I suck book here in Buffalo.

Lets not forget that he made 2 saves and was being sat on & pushed by Dupee Jaymont in the crease. Hell Dumont was in the net when the puck went in. The refs really went to lunch in that game.
That being said, Tblo is this season's Bob Essensa.

The refs were the reason why bernier wasn't punished for wiping out tootoo. They were so one-sided all night towards Nashville, which isn't surprising since Van Massenhoven seems to have a vendetta against the Sabres that the end of the third period was make-up call time. Oh and as for T-bo well he is T-blow.

Thumper, seriously, thank you. Sometimes I wonder how many people here actually watch hockey and understand it more than just from a bystander’s point of view.
I am not a t-bow fan in the least, but holy crap! How many followers are there in this thread? Yeh, T-bow sucks! Yeh, he blows! We hate you T-bow . Please shut the hell up! At least imissandrereed has good solid hockey facts to back up his point. I think he is way out of line on his point of T-bow being so bad this game for the reasons Thumper already pointed out but I respect imissandrereed’s points.
T-bow suffered from a number of things this game. One: Lindy (who I love, but doesn’t mean I wont criticize him) never freakin plays him! Lindy! Start playing your freakin backup!!!. 2: The Sabres on the first goal pulled a classic Buffalo (of the last three years) sleepwalk shift. For some reason this freakin team I love falls asleep COMPLETELY for random shifts. That shift was absurd. Horrible team effort on that play. 3: on the second goal T-bow should have controlled the rebound but come on D! Help a brother out.
I agree with Papaduke in his Bob Essensa statement but that doesn’t mean I won’t call um like I see um.
T-bow was hung out to dry when he was in there that game. Plain and simple.

I was actually anticipating this stupid thread. The first goal he let in, he was on his stomach and had a Predator laying next to him pushing him! He actually made three saves and couldnt get the puck when it was knocked in. How many ****ing times does he have to stop it before the D actually does thier job?
The second one he was screened on, never saw it. Again, no D to help clear the screen. I am not a T-Bow lover, but at least look at the whole scene before you lay blaim on one guy. The D was no where to be seen. What a ****ing joke this thread is.

Nobody who gets 20 minutes every 7 games is going to be able to maintain any kind of sharpness.I mean this is the club that had Dwayne Roloson and we all thought he sucked. Then he went to Minnesota and got serious minutes and flourished making an All-Star game, I believe. He also of course lead Edmonton to the Cup Finals before getting injured.Any keeper will get better with more minutes played and doesn't have to look over his shoulder if he makes a mistake. Not saying T-Bo should be playing as much as Miller but could he be more effective with a game every so often I'm sure he could.

Well...let's not get crazy about it wasn't all Thibault's fault...he did let in 2 goals off of 5 shots in 8 minutes time.
Goaltenders get pulled for that shit all the time regardless of who's fault it is.
You think the defense just all of a sudden got putrid just when Thibault got into the game? They were shaky all night.
Miller was stellar.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that 1 of the 2 goals scored on Thibault was on the Powerplay. That argument doesn't hold any water? The other goal that was scored on him, he'd already stopped 2 or 3 shots before the 3rd or 4th rebound got behind him.
A cold goalie that hasn't played NHL minutes in around a month. Unfair criticism.

I agree. That first goal he let in was hardly his fault... the forwards were not backchecking and J.P. Dumont was pushed in behind him so that T-Bo couldn't even get solid footing before the puck was in the net.
That second goal had odor though.

Good point (I agree with you on the 2nd goal that's why I'm 50/50 on critiquing Thibault's overall performance)...but this all happened in the second period.
What if Miller couldn't return? I know I was not comfortable at all with Thibault in there and was begging Miller to get back in there.
Could he have turned it around and played lights out for the rest of the game?

I don't know...Either he warms up a bit or the Preds get inside his head.
This is a guy that shutout Montreal earlier in the year, so it could have gone either way. Trust me, I was relieved to have Miller back in as well.

T-bo had a rough game there. Hopefully he gets his confidence up and does better. Ryan is going to need a break eventually.
