As you guys may have noticed, I am not an Obamamaniac.
IMO, the constant juvenile repetition of his middle name as if it actually means something is not deplorable.
It is stupid and shameless.
And as we all know, Republicans are all about stupidity and shamelessness.

I think it's repulsive.
Why is it fair game? And most Americans are retarded so the Appeal to the Majority fallacy does not affirm any argument that it's "OK".
In the land of "Lost", "Survivor", Oprah Winfrey, the population has been so dumbed down that to even fathom that the middle name "Hussein" with it's shitty connotations (we all know what they are trying to imply Obama -> Saddam -> evil middle eastern muslim) would be a factor in anyone's voting decision leads to to believe that we as a nation have a collective intellect even lower than I thought.
It's pathetic, cheap, and even my generation in high school could see through that crap. So, there are two things going on here:
1.) It's a reflection of how dumbed down America has become. "Workers smart enough to operate the machines but too dumb to make informed decisions".
2.) It's a reflection of how dumb the political class elite think you guys are.

A quote from another forum:
"
suzanne8:14AMFeb 27th 2008
It's going to get a lot worse, it's part of the ritual!
There were so many issues that could have been addressed last night at the debate...but with Tim Russert trying to catch the
"big fish" as he puts it, they dumbed down the questions to fit Obama's intellectual laziness.
Why do you think Senator Clinton made the comment on "why do I always get the first question"?
She knew why she gets the first question.
It's because if he can't feed off of Senator Clinton's answer first, he doesn't know how to answer them.
His lack of knowledge on foreign policy is quite frightening.
Why is it when a female addresses an issue it's complaining?
The best part was when someone finally called him to task on his affiliation with Louis Farrakhan,& the support Farrakhan gives to him, he stuttered all over himself, I think a lot of Jewish American people will take note of his facial expressions ,he was very uncomfortable.
The biased good old boys of the political round tables can't write the obituary yet!!

This is from Shiva's Obamarama thread it might help you with this myopia
that seems to be infesting you lately.
The fact is that Obama’s race matters more to whites than it does to blacks. Race is still a huge issue in America, but in a very different way than before. Today, white liberals have more invested in Obama than do African Americans. And for that reason, if he is not the eventual nominee it will hurt them. But not as much as if he is the nominee and falls to some no-mark Republican. That, for liberals, will confirm the endemic racism they see everywhere, ignoring the fact that it is Obama’s race, not his qualities as a leader, that they most love about him themselves.

I'd like to hear why it's deplorable.
I voted it is part of the game, but that does not exclude deplorable.
It's deplorable because its only relevance is to a recent American enemy or a religion largely foreign to most Americans.
It's deplorable because it suggests the American populace is so stupid as to really care about something as a middle name.

That's a little too simplistic for me. Maybe not for you. You can say that it is more important to save face and surrender our children and treasury. I could care less about saving our face which in reality is losing it.

I agree that it is just part of the game. However, I also think that it is silly. His middle name has no bearing on the type of person he is, and unfortunately the name "hussein" has a bad connotation surrounding it.
I am also proud that McCain (who you seem to be supporting), apologized for the speaker who opened at his rally who used Barack's middle name to infer something more sinister.

The highlighting of Obama's middle name is deplorable because the reason that some use it is deplorable.
The only reason it is mentioned is because it is a Muslim name that Saddam happened to share.
It is about denigrating a whole religion and lame attempts to somehow put negative shroud on Obama just because his middle name is Muslim.
It really is just an outgrowth of typical right wing bigotry....and bigotry is deplorable.
