I really liked the first Gears of War for a good amount of time. Then people started chainsawing me online with thier shotgun. I got tired of getting my ass kicked. I am excited for Gears 2.

Marcus Fenix Talks Gears of War 2
John DiMaggio confirms Brumaks, characters and more.
by Patrick Kolan, IGN AU

Australia, February 28, 2008 - As part of an interview with talented voice-actor John DiMaggio, voice of Futurama's Bender and Marcus Fenix in Gears of War, DiMaggio sheds some light on what to expect in Gears 2, including a fresh confrontation with a Brumak, new weapons and more. He was clearly excited to be a part of the sequel and was genuinely impressed by what he saw.

In terms of production schedule, it appears DiMaggio has been working on his contribution for a while. Interestingly, in addition to once again voicing Fenix, he also reprises the role of Franklin – leader of the Stranded, who plays a role in the Nighfall chapter as he guides the player through the checkpoints towards the gas station.

"We're doing Gears of War 2 right now; we're in the middle of production. I'm reprising my role as Marcus again." He continues, "I'm doing one of the characters, Franklin – those are the two that I'm reprising."

Franklin's return is interesting - does this suggest we're going to be revisiting some areas from the last game? Let the speculation commence. In addition to those nuggets, DiMaggio also went on to confirm you'll be facing Brumaks head-on – and that's just the beginning.

"It's badass. In fact, I saw some of the stuff yesterday! Which level was it? It was, well listen, there's bigger beasts in this game. Bigger beasts. Remember the scene with the Brumak, when the Brumak comes out and we're like 'Brumak! Roll! Get outta there!' and it's coming after them – and they don't have a fight with him? Well, they fight him now."

He continues his enthusiasm towards the game, hinting that production has ramped up most aspects of the original tile. "Oh man, dude – there's new weapons, new beasts, there's a couple of new characters, and it's just badass."

DiMaggio confirms a long-held suspicion - you're definitely going to rumble with Brumaks in Gears of War 2. (PC screenshot)

In terms of presentation, "It looks cool as s---. The storylines are really cool and the relationships of the guys in the game – the sequences that explain things that are going on – they're a lot deeper. Most of the voice-actors who do the games are friends, so it's kinda cool – we're all fans of the game."

The first one was a lot of fun...at least the singleplayer/cooperative modes were.

Multiplayer VS kind of sucked. Way too big of a host advantage.

If they could fix that up, it could shape up to be quite a bit of fun.
