Apparently Windows Home Server, the one M$ OS that that has gotten universal rave reviews, has what could be a fatal flaw. It corrupts the data stored on it! This was whispered about at Christmas time and was thought to only affect only a very few programs, plus, a fix was promised before New Years. Well, two months on and the list of orgrams affected has grown exponentially and there is no fix as the problem is much more endemic than first thought.

Here is a link with the basic info and the article can direct you to more detailed info.

Freakin M$ can't seem to do anything right.

why would anyone NOT run linux on a server (home or otherwise)?

honest question.

i'm thinking of making my old laptop a file/print server for the house.

I'm clueless on Linux. I plan on learning more about it as soon as I get the household rigs squared away. Home server has some pretty neat tricks but it is worthless until they fix the bugs.

nehe-
You need to start a clinic on Linux here. I will have a spare rig without an OS very soon and am ready to learn.
