before any of us jump to conclusions we should probably wait for the whole story. Maybe they found something during his injury checkup. Who knows. Just have to wait and see.

Can't say I saw that one coming. Well, it is Montour's team now. That scares me a bit, actually more then a bit. I would expect Darris has something up his sleeve in terms of another goalie.

Unless its career ending, thats what IR is for, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure placing someone on IR for a career ending injury would be pretty stupid.

Anyone think of this?
Mike Thompson is known to be out for both games this weekend. In order for Daniel Sams to be placed on the active roster, the Bandits have to release a player from the active roster. Because our roster is low as it is due to the numerous injuries, we can't afford to release a player who can actually play in a game. Thus Thompson, who won't be playing anyway, is the one thats released. When Thompson comes back from his injury, the Bandits resign him, Sams then gets released or is sent back to the practice squad.

That's a good possibility...I know my eyes bugged out when I saw this thread but this explanation makes a lot of sense. I remember when the Bills waived Steve Tasker before the Colts game in 97 because we had so many injuries and brought him back Monday morning

He must have been told ahead of time that this move was what we planned. He must already know we plan to pick him right back up again.

No, you misunderstood me. I'm saying that you could put him on IR if hes hurt for a while, which would save a roster spot, and not have to release him. Something career ending would make sense for a complete release.

and truth be told, I think the ability level between Montour and Thompson is not all that much different. Both can have good and bad games inconsistently (or even within the same game!). In this league, until there's more money involved, there will continue to be a shortage of good goalies anyways. I'm not as concerned even if Thompson is NOT picked back up later.....
....says the Bandits Fan who hasn't been on this board since last summer :D

For further clarification, IR wasn't an option because once placed on the list the player must stay on that list for a specified time frame (I believe, but am not positive, that it is 4 weeks.) They want to be able to bring him back ASAP after he's medically cleared to play. I talked to Mikey after Saturday's game and he said he was doing much better and had been headache free for several days. With any luck we'll see him back between the pipes for the Philly game next week. (No, I don't have any inside information about a return date, that's just wishful thinking on my part.)

Rumor has it Mikey's been cleared to play. He will likely be re-signed effective either yesterday or today and play tomorrow. Look for Montour to then be released, so that Sams can stay on the active roster.
