There's only one way for this season to play out "the right way." Managment (after all the crap they've done this year) needs to show these boys they believe they're the ones to get the job done. I don't think this team needs a trade, definitely not right now. You don't trade players away in a 18-of-20 point run after the A* break... even after the 10 game slip, nothing except a prospect or two at this point unless you can find some schmuck to take Peters behind a shed and kick him in the jim-jim.

These kids can win the East, no question in my mind. It'll take some luck (staying healthy that is) but there's no doubt in my mind they can do it. It's all about momentum, they're starting to pick it up and the best part is they're starting to get healthy at the perfect time of year. The time to grab your sacks and make a run for it. Don't you think Lindy told them to take it easy for the first part of the year considering what happened to them last year???? I would have.

What's the best (and only) way to stick it to DB & CD? WIN THE CUP.

Rant over.

I respectfully disagree. I'm not calling for a major trade, but acquiring one or two third- or fourth-liners would be wise. More than anything, this team needs someone who can win face-offs, add more grit/physicality and play a sound two-way game.

...

I don't think a coach ever tells his players to take it easy. Atleast not if he likes his job anyways. In my opinion, it was more about the team finding their own identity after losing not only Chris and Danny but also Teppo. Those were the three guys who demanded the teams' respect. They started slow until they found out which guys they could lean on. They've done that and they are starting to play well and for each other again. It's been alot more fun to watch lately.

With respect to catching Ottawa, it's 9 points. I'm a Mets fan and this past year I saw a 7 game lead crumble in 17 games so I for one will say that anything is possible. Probable? Not so much.

I know, I saw it first hand in Queens =/

And you are right, No self-respecting, or respected coach would EVER say "take it easy up to the A* break, no serious injuries, no ego trips..." Not outside of a sealed room anyway.

However, you have to believe he wasn't exactly pushing them to the extreme? He was absorbing a lot of the heat for the losses all by himself. He's a really smart coach, you know this. He does what needs to be done to put his team in a position to win.

That's all I'm saying...

Signing Campbell to a multi million dollar guaranteed no trade contract at his age doesn't make good sense unfortunately. look for him to be traded soon, but you never know.
