The Buffalo Stallions were a soccer team based out of Buffalo, New York that played in the Major Soccer League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Soccer_League) from 1979 to 1984. Their home arena was Buffalo Memorial Auditorium.

I went to the ever first Stallions game in '79 at the Aud. The beat the defending champ NY Arrows 10-9 with Jim May in goal. We hit the Anchor bar for wings after the game and several of the Stallions came in, May included.

I still remember the old radio ad from the late 70's early 80's. "Watch the Buffalo Stallions....Live and [boom, boom] kicking at the yard" Brings back old memories of North Tonawanda.

Holy crap. I remember that ad. I grew up in NT a few blocks from where they practiced. In fact, I played indoor soccer for 2 or 3 years as a kid before we moved to Maryland and I realized they played soccer outside, too. Hey, I was 9.
My parents took me to a Stallions' game, but I have no idea who they played. I just remember sitting in the 1st or 2nd row. After we moved to Maryland, I saw a Baltimore Blast game, but it wasn't the same.
Didn't that used to be the Sabres' practice building at one point, also?

Nope. The Stallions bought and practice at the Tonawanda Tennis center and renamed it Sportsplex, off of Payne Ave. in NT. The Sabres practiced at Sabreland on Niagara falls Blvd, Wheatfield.(Now Hockey Outlet) In the late 70's the Sabres did practice some at The Tonawanda Sports center, later called Tonawanda Ice time. Tonawanda Ice time was next to the sportsplex and is now home to several charities, food pantry, clothes closet, etc. The sports center was also home to the Buffalo Norsemen.
