My laptop keeps freezing and it seems slow. I ran anti virus and have had anti virus running since day one and currently have AVG which updates daily. I use firefox browser and clear out me cookies, temp files etc. each day when I log off. I don't have a ton of apps running either if any besides the basics. Every now and then it does a "memory dump" on me then wants to scan my hard drive for errors which I let it do but still have a bad time surfing the net.

For the record I HATE vista but it's on here and Im pretty much stuck. Anyone else having these problems or know how to remedy it?

Thanks

How much RAM do you have? Vista needs at least 2Gb to run and preferably more. Here are some optimization tweaks http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/83EC0FFE-EE04-4D53-8B87-25D1F05C954E1033.mspx

Use System Restore to roll back to a time when you last remember your laptop running properly. Take note of any patches that were applied after that point in time(you'll see them on the calendar.) Then after you get your computer back up turn off Automatic Updates. If you feel compelled to do so, you can load one patch at a time to update your machine.. too rule out whether it was a patch that dicked up your machine or not.

I was having issues with Windows update automatically d/l'ing and installing shit.. dicking up my machine over night.. making it crash sometimes. That's how I got over that. :niterider
