Adam Jones has left his Venezuelan Winter League team and flies to Baltimore tomorrow morning to take a physical so he can be dealt to the Orioles in exchange for pitcher Erik Berdard. No word yet on how many players going Baltimore's way.
Carlos Silva, Miguel Batista, and Jarrod Washburn is a nice back end as well. This also keeps Morrow in the pen setting up Putz which makes the M's probably the strongest and deepest staff in the AL West, even with the Angels out there. Lackey and Escobar are solid, but the potential of a Bedard/Hernandez 1-2 punch for the next 6 or 7 yrs is scary.

It all depends on Bedard's durablity for this trade to work for the M's, he has never ptiched 200+ innings/ But good deal for both squads

The rumored package is said to be Adam Jones, Chris Tilman, George Sherrill or Jeff Clement and a 4th prospect. Not a bad bounty to get into their hands
There is also a good chance that they could trade Brian Roberts to the Chicago Cubs. The name Ive heard the most is pitcher Sean Gallagher

I would love to round up a posse of baseball heads and have a prize fantasy league this baseball season.Eric Bedard may be the best arm available next to Santana, sad though the O's are dealing him.

Looks like Angelos wants to block the deal, or is at least thinking about it.

easy Callaway! This makes my M's a threat finally...i wouldnt go as far as contending for like the ALCS or anything. But they should make noise in a weak AL West. I would have loved for them to keep Jones or Sherrill, but Bedard, if healthy its an abosulute beast to accompany Hernandez and Silva, etc

I really wanted to see the Reds pick up Bedard as they were one of the teams that were rumored to be interested, but my guess is they probaly wanted a deal centered around Jay Bruce and the Reds have him on untouchable status. Once we sent Hamilton to the Rangers I knew that Bedard was out of the question.
But this is a good move for the Mariners though. Gives them a lethal 1-2 punch (as long as they can stay healthy) to go along with a solid bullpen that features one of the best closers. Now it's the offenses turn and guys like Beltre and Sexton have to step it up.

Good package the Orioles have gotten for Bedard. Next up could be Brian Roberts to the Cubs before ST is over
Thus far Baltimore has given up Erik Bedard and Miguel Tejada for Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman, Tony Butler, Kam Mickolio, Troy Patton, Luke Scott, Matt Albers, Dennis Sarfate, Mike Costanzo
