Just days before the Tuesday’s crucial Florida primary, Rudy Giuliani has slipped to third place in the Sunshine State and now badly trails John McCain and Mitt Romney, a new Miami Herald poll reveals.

The statewide poll of 800 likely voters showed McCain leading with 25 percent of the votes, and Romney in second at 23 percent.

Giuliani received just 15 percent of the votes, down from 36 percent in a Herald poll last November, even though he has campaigned heavily in Florida and virtually ignored the races in New Hampshire, Michigan and other early decision states.

he took a gamble on not campaigning until Florida...it obviously hasn't paid off...

did his people think this strategy was his only chance? i.e. if he had campaigned in the earlier primaries would he have been out anyway?

Maybe Rudy wants to run for Governor of Florida when Jeb makes a run at the White House in '12 and he is just engaging in name recognition and fundraising right now.

He does seem very interested in Florida.

I heard the other day on NPR that so many retired New Yorkers are on the east coast that they still call him, "my mayor" when referring to him.

Doubly so for a Republican. Giuliani has faults, but he has grit too.

I wonder if he drops out if Florida goes as the polls show.
