The University at Buffalo (http://buffalo.bizjournals.com/buffalo/related_content.html?topic=University%20at%20Buffa lo) has its 2008 football opponents lined up with the addition of Pittsburgh, Army, Texas-El Paso and Missouri.
The Bulls will open the 2008 season by hosting UTEP on Thursday night, Aug. 28 at UB Stadium., marking the first game between the schools. UB will also host Army on Oct. 18 while the Bulls will travel to Pittsburgh and Missouri.
UB is coming off its best season since joining the Mid-American Conference, posting a 5-7 record and extending the contract of coach Turner Gill.
"One of the goals that (Director of Athletics) Warde (Manuel) and I have had is to get to a point where we can have six home games and I'm very happy that we've achieved that for the 2008 season," said Gill. "Getting Pittsburgh and Army on our schedule are terrific additions. They make sense for us geographically and have tremendous football traditions. We look forward to the opportunity to play them."
The full schedule will be released later in the spring with the addition of MAC games.
In addition to 2008, the Bulls have contracted four-year, home-and-home deals with Pitt as well as another Big East member, Connecticut. Pittsburgh will visit UB Stadium in 2009. The series with UConn will begin in 2010 with the Huskies hosting.
Also, beginning in 2009 UB has established a two-game series with the University of Central Florida of Conference USA. The first game will be contested in Orlando with a rematch the following year at UB Stadium.
