I've noticed that a lot of UB players are finding their way onto the lists of draftable players this year.
Can someone who has seen them firsthand comment on any of the following players:
DE Trevor Scott
C Jamey Richard
LB Ollice Ervin
FS Kareem Byron

Trevor Scott is a terrific pass rusher and plays the run well too. He had a serious injury early in his career and when he came back he converted to DE from TE and made a splash instantly. He's still learning the position but had 19 sacks in his only 2 years on defense. He might want to send film of himself vs Joe Staley in 06/07 because he had a nice game against the best LT in the nation. He's a bit undersized but makes up for it with speed. I expect a good 40 time to get scouts' attention as not just an undrafted or 7th round guy.
Jamey Richard was a team captain and our best (and most durable) OL pretty much since the day he took over at C. He'll probably be drafted higher than any of the other UB prospects (may be the only one taken). Athletic, strong, big, tough... needs technique refinement. Our running game was the bread and butter of the offense and he was the leader of it.
Those two will be in some post-season games coming up... http://www.ubathletics.buffalo.edu/football/news/ftb11-29-2007-scott.shtml
Hopefully senior bowl and combine invites are to come!
I dont know too much about Ervin. He's athletic and makes tackles all over the field but idk how much of a gamebreaker he is. Not quite the player Ramon Guzman (now on Colts) was IMO
Kareem Byrom was a great starter at safety his soph and junior seasons. He made big plays all over the field. This year he was moved to LB, just before the season started, and didnt complain or miss a beat. Stepped into that role and made big stops as a 200lb LB. Athletic and tough. Great character. Good student. Definately should make it to an NFL training camp and could excel on special teams to make a roster. If he blows people away with his offseason workout numbers he could get taken higher than you might expect in the draft because the production is also there.

Another prospect this year is P Ben Woods. One of the top NCAA punters the past few years

A big thank-you Mr. Mouldsie. I hope the Bills scouting staff are all over these guys.

In the future keep your eyes on WR/PR Naaman Roosevelt, RB James Starks, S Kendric Hawkins, CB Dominic Cook, DB Mike Newton and possibly even QB Drew Willy who has developed nicely and will be a senior next year. Also on the OL Ray Norel and Jon Gedes
and of course John Syty. represent.
