Caller on 103.3 made the point to bring a can of soup to the game on Friday as a form of protest to the management.
Sure it will be confiscated by security and they will be forced to donate it to charity but atleast if enough people to do it, it could send a message to the the administration about how the fans feel about the situation.

So, wait...people ARE IN THE PROCESS OF GOING TO THE GAME, thereby eliminating them from bandwagon status...
They're organizing a form of protest to tell the management that they like Brian Campbell, and you call them out for it?
If the government confiscated your house and deported you to Antarctica you'd say: "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"
Why do you have to blindly buy up everything Quinn and Co. sell to be considered hardcore fans?
Let's not forget that Shredd and Ragan's "penny protest" aided in bringing down the S. Ogden St. tolls on the I-90...
I hope everyone brings a can just to spite YOU TWO.

Why are we protesting management again?
Because they drafted and developed a two time All-Star defenseman that's scheduled to hit free agency and make up to 7 million dollars a season on the open market?
Shame on them.

Yea your cool by calling people names! "Rat" how the **** old are you guys seriously, who the hell even says that. Shame on the management for for losing 3 of our best players in a matter of a season in a half. But its ok we'll bend over and let them put it in our butt's thats cool....RAT. you guys can go hide behind your "true fan" facade, and act like youre the true hardcore fans that were at game 7 in Carolina with the Stanley cup funnel in the parking lot. I will be at the game with my seasons that my family has had for 6 years and I will be bringing my can of soup. RAT....what ever that means because thats quite possibly the gayest thing I have ever heard aside from you guys being such girls about protesting a decision made by management. But its ok as long as we are in Kindergarten calling people a Rat will definitely make you more popular...(if youre a tool I mean).
And no shame on the management for not wanting to pay Campbell earlier and sign him to an extension earlier. What the hell were they waiting for and why does it always take so damn long for them to that? Their policy sucks, shame on the management for that. Shame on the management for destroying a Presidents Trophy and championship caliber team in less than a year.
And if you call that jumping off the bandwagon, **** you youre a bitch because being pissed off the team is horrible right now (granted were missing our top 2 centers) does not mean I am less of a fan than anyone and calling people a "Rat" (whatever the hell that means) doesn't make you more of a fan..

How about bringing a can of crushed Campbells Soup instead - as a protest for Campbell going public with his cutting off talks til after the season ? He's to blame here, not management. This one's all on Campbell. He didn't want the distraction of negotiations during the season ? How about the distraction of telling the media that he's cut off talks ? Now I'M distracted ! And I'm sure the players are too. Nice going, Brian. What a dumb thing to do.

I don't get it. If you are upset with the way this team is performing and you are unhappy about letting all their best talent leave for nothing you are a rat? Wow that is amazing. So what do we call the people who think this organization can do no wrong and will not criticize them no matter how this team performs and no matter what stupid moves the front office makes? How about weasel. Yep that works for the cowards who will sit back and quietly drink the kool-aid while this team slips back into mediocrity and we prepare to have no sports teams playing past April.
It truly amazes me that after 10 straight losses, there are some who can't see this team is not just going to fix itself. The talent is just not there anymore. I really hope we get to the playoffs, but I would be shocked if we do. Even if we get there I'm pretty sure we'll be done pretty quickly. That may be easy to except for some of you weasels but after a lifetime of heart breaking Buffalo sports losses and the last two years, I want a God damn cup. But what does my opinion matter, I'm just a rat.

Would Campbell have walked out of the talks if the offer thrown on the table wasn't insulting him? Why didn't we sign him last summer especially after his first all-star game appearence, when we knew his value was going to dramatically increase? Was our staff to ignorant to realize what kind of player he had the potential of becoming and what a player of that level can make on the open market? If they were that ignorant that is the managements fault.

Because we couldn't sign him last season or even last off season. We had to wait until this season. CBA rules.
Still bringing a can of soup? They've been trying to bang out a contract with him for 40+ games.
He know's he's going to get at least 6.5 million a season as a free agent. The Sabres obviously aren't willing to pay Brian Campbell 6.5 million a season for 6 years. Hell, he could even get 7 million. What have they done wrong in this scenario?

Anyone who has been a fan of the Sabres during the tenure of Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier owes them one thing: patience. This is a team that has almost always been fiercely competitive since their reign in Buffalo began, and they're coming off back-to-back trips to the conference finals. Just because one half-season has been a huge disappointment that's absolutely no reason to call for anyone's head. I recommend looking at the big picture.
Patience is a virtue, rats; you might want to start exercising it and stop ignoring the fact that Regier is the one who built all these teams. Even in the face of severe adversity and scrutiny, Darcy always has a plan.

Lol, I live in Orlando but if I was going I wouldn't bring a can. What I am saying is people should be upset about losing 10 games in a row. Those upset people who voice their opinion about the team they love should not be called rats or be told they know nothing about hockey.
I look at our roster and we have basically lost 5 1st or 2nd line players over the last two years. Not to mention Mckee and probably Campbell. This thing isn't going to fix itself. Either the front office needs to make a move or we are going to have to wait a few years and let the young talent in the organization develop before we are contenders again. That is assuming they develop in good players.
I understand we are are only 4 points away from the last playoff spot, but we have to jump a few teams and the current trend does not suggest we can do that. We are also 6 points away from being the worst team in the league. When the team I love loses ten games in a row, I am going to express my disappointment and I shouldn't be called a rat because I do so.
P.S. You give Campbell some forwards who can put the puck in the net and you'll see what he is worth.

I have never called for anyone's head other then Larry Quinn. I have also said that no matter what happens this year, Lindy has earned at least one more year as our head coach.
Darcy on the other hand should not have as much security. While he has pulled off some great trades in the past and found some gems in the 2nd round and beyond, he has had some real first round clunkers such as Kriukov at 14 and maybe Zagrapen. His unwillingness in the past to negotiate during the season has simply crushed this team. Briere, Dumont, Mckee and possibly Drury could all still be here for much less then they are making now.
He needs to show us something now. The current roster is of his design and it is simply not good enough. Now he needs to show his meddle and prove that he is not going to let this team slip back into the bottom of the league. I don't think he should be fired yet but if this continues and we don't make the playoffs, he should be worried about his job.

WHY DOES IT TAKE 4 PLUS MONTHS AND THE ENTIRE OFFSEASON TO NEGOTIATE?
Because 4+ months and an off season still doesn't change the fact that Brian Campbell is going to get offeres near, at, or above the 7 million per season mark.
So all of you fans that are angry at management, you think Campbell is worth around 7 million a season for the next 5, 6, or 7 years? That's what you're all saying whether you know it or not.
FamousAmos
January 18th, 2008, 9:00:37 AM
From what I understand, there are some fans who believe that Campbell is a dick for going public about cutting off contract talks.
There are also fans that believe that, and I am assuming a little here, that because of management's past history of dealing with contract extensions, or whatever, that this deal should have been done months ago.
In addition, one opinion of this thread posits that bringing a can of Campbell's soup in support of Campbell, will result in a rally or protest against management.
Lastly, there would be a second, and IMO, a more important result of several thousands of cans being donated to charity.
However, those who disagree with this protest believe that the original motivation for bringing the cans taints the the general good result of the can collection.
Now, alcohol is most assuredly going to be consumed during the game and when you have something heavy as a can of soup in your hand, it turns into something possibly dangerous when thrown, at say, a hated or disliked player? coach? etc.
So, what are the benefits of this "protest" and do they outweigh the cons? I'd say it's a push.
and also, why the name calling? attack the post, correct, and not the poster? If you have something to say to a poster, send a pm, right?
Calling names is childish, especially the way the name has been used. Too much animosity in this thread.
And to be honest, there have been some other instances of posters being singled out unjustly for their opinions or "loyalty" to players or coaches.
It's like its ****ing high school here for chrissakes.

Seriously this thread is a bunch of crap.
Why are we not more worried about making the playoffs this year then we are about signing campbell.
Also because some one doesnt agree with the direction of an organization is going doesnt make them a "rat" or any other name. It is an opinion which we are allowed to have.
This whole oh dont question the front office they have been here for years is such a cop out, Yes they have been here for years but it also took them years to build the team of the past two years and there were plenty of blunders on the way to that. The fact is that was the past and now its only natural to focus on the future. I do not doubt they can turn it around but at the same time you can not keep losing your top players and getting nothing in return.
No one here is a bigger fan then any one else and there is no reason to act like you are.
