Mats Sundin, C (TOR)
Once the right offer comes in, the Leafs GM (however that is) will approach Sundin with an opportunity to go to Cup contender. In the end, it'll be Mats' decision.

Marian Hossa, RW (ATL)
If the Thrashers cannot get Hossa locked up to a new contract by the deadline, chances are he'll be sporting a new uniform on Feb. 27, at the latest.
Salary: $7,000,000 | Age: 29

Olli Jokinen, C (FLA)
It has been widely reported that the Cats have been quietly shopping Jokinen for a couple of months. If the right offer comes around, the Panthers could pull the trigger.
Salary: $5,250,000 | Age: 29

Rob Blake, D (LA)
Sources tell TFP that Blake will be traded by the deadline. The veteran has a no-trade clause and will ultimately decide where he'd like to play.
Salary: $6,000,000 | Age: 38

Patrick Marleau, C (SJ)
Marleau's on pace for the second lowest offensive year of his career. He has a new contract effective July 1 and the Sharks have been trying to swap him for another forward.
Salary: $4,500,000 | Age: 28

Brian Campbell, D (BUF)
Now that Campbell announced he's putting off contract talks with the Sabres until the off-season, the Sabres will have no choice but to try and trade him for a solid return.
Salary: $1,750,000 | Age: 28

Vaclav Prospal, C/LW (TB)
Until the ownership situation in TB is resolved, the Bolts won't deal one of their "Big 3." That leaves Prospal, a potential UFA, to be moved for younger talent.
Salary: $1,900,000 | Age: 32

Sergei Fedorov, C/D (CBJ)
If the Blue Jackets fall out of the playoff race, they'll look to move Fedorov to a Cup contender. Sergei's a UFA-to-be, and would be a welcomed addition to any top team.
Salary: $6,080,000 | Age: 38

Pavol Demitra, LW/RW (MIN)
Despite the Wild battling for 1st in the NorthWest, Demitra's name has popped up in trade talk. Minny might consider swapping him for a younger NHL-proven talent.
Salary: $3,500,000 | Age: 33

Phil Kessel, RW (BOS)
The Boston Bruins are trying to bolster their defensive core and are supposedly trying to package Kessel in a deal for top-two defenseman.
Salary: $850,000 | Age: 20

Adam Foote, D (CBJ)
Foote, like Fedorov, is in the final year of his contract and could be moved if the Jackets fall out of the playoffs. He has a no-trade clause and would need to approve any deal.
Salary: $4,600,000 | Age: 36

Marek Zidlicky, D (NAS)
Sources tell TFP the Predators are entertaining offers for Zidlicky, who has a no-trade clause. It is believed the team has received plenty of interest for him.
Salary: $3,200,000 | Age: 30

Michael Ryder, RW (MTL)
Ryder has struggled for just about the entire season and it doesn't look like the Habs will re-sign him this summer. They've been trying to package him for help up front.
Salary: $2,950,000 | Age: 27

John-Michael Liles, D (COL)
It doesn't appear as if the Avs are interested in signing Liles to an extension. He'll be a UFA in July and the Avs have been shopping him around the league.
Salary: $1,400,000 | Age: 27

Brad Stuart, D (LA)
Stuart, who signed a one-year deal with the Kings in the summer, is expected to be moved before the trade deadline, sources tell TFP.
Salary: $3,500,000 | Age: 28

Nikolai Khabibulin, G (CHI)
According to a source, Chicago is willing to move The Bulin Wall for the right price. In a perfect world, they'd like to bring in a younger goalie and a top-pairing blueliner.
Salary: $6,750,000 | Age: 35

Jason Blake, C (TOR)
The Leafs are trying to deal Blake, who they signed in the summer. His high salary will make it difficult to move him and acquire a suitable replacement at the same time.
Salary: $5,000,000 | Age: 34

Glen Murray, RW (BOS)
It's deadline season and that means the Murray trade rumors are in full swing. While the B's could be buyers, if they find a team to take on his salary, they'd pull the trigger.
Salary: $4,150,000 | Age: 35

Pavel Kubina, D (TOR)
Kubina hasn't worked out in Toronto, largely because he's third on the Leafs' defensive depth chart. Sources tell TFP the Leafs would like to move him.
Salary: $5,000,000 | Age: 30

Jarret Stoll, C (EDM)
Stoll's name has popped up in a number of trade rumors all season long, and they don't seem to stop. The Oilers are looking for upgrades and could package Stoll.
Salary: $2,200,000 | Age: 25

Tuomo Ruutu, RW (CHI)
Word on the street has the Blackhawks entertaining offers for Ruutu. The Hawks are looking for a top-pairing defenseman and Ruutu could be sent packing.
Salary: $2,250,000 | Age: 24

ay Emery, G (OTT)
According to a number reports, the Ottawa Senators are shopping Emery, who has apparently become a problem in the dressing room.
Salary: $2,750,000 | Age: 25

Jonathan Cheechoo, RW (SJ)
Cheechoo's name has popped up in trade speculation throughout the first-half of the season. It's believed the Sharks would be willing to move him at the right price.
Salary: $2,500,000 | Age: 27 -- NOT YET TRADED

Why would you guys want Liles? Hes the same style player as Campbell and will also be a FA at the end of the season. He wont demand as much money as Campbell but he'll get alot on the open market and I doubt the Sabres would resign him.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Well...when Campbell walks, we'll need a puck-moving d-man...

Liles is younger, and has a good chemistry with Miller...I'd take him in a heartbeat.

How about Campbell for Kessel and Wideman?

I'm on the Kessel bandwagon!

If I was making a 'fantasy team', he'd be on it.

What is wrong with Ollie?

He's good, but makes mad money and is captain material (pretty much the reason they didn't bring in Peca)

sundin can go piss up a rope.

he's been permanently poisoned by the culture of losing perpetuated by the worst hockey franchise in the league.

Why no love for Ruutu? If I remember right,he's got a good deal of grit in him...and isn't that one thing Buffalo needs desperately?

I'd also consider Stoll,Stuart or Prospal. Stoll or Stuart should be a focus,if possible.

Liles...maybe,but he's also a UFA and we'd be pulling a Zubrus all over again.

Do I like some of these players ? Yes

Do I think the Sabres will make an offer for any of these "name" players ? No

Would I like to see some of these players as Sabres ? Yes

The Sabres are not going to spend any more money.

If we could steal Kessel from Boston I'd be all over it. It would be like stealing Brad Boyes from San Jose, then ripping yourself off by sending him to St Louis all over again. I'd look into signing Liles in the offseason to replace Campbell for less cash. I'd give him at most $4 million and he'll fit in just dandy, he played in college with Miller too.

Prospal is on my wish list. He is sick, I love watching him play, but he is gonna demand a relatively large raise.

prospal is way too soft like everybody else on the sabres, i don't see anybody on that list that make the sabres more physical, maybe foote

Yeah, Liles is actually Miller's best friend. He'd be a nice replacement for Campbell....At least he'd be a few million cheaper, but he's still a top 4 defenseman. Campbell is considered a top pairing defenseman.

I don't know that Boston would trade Kessel for Campbell, when Campbell has already let them know through the media that he will be available come July 1. Why give up Kessel for him?

exactly, people will argue "negotation rights" but why trade a good player for that. I am sure campbell has a few teams in his mind he would like to play for, personally i think the rags would like to find a way to get him.

I doubt Campbell will negotiate with anyone, be it the Sabres or whomever he's prospectively traded to. He stands to lose too much. The only teams that would give up anything of value to rent him are ones that think Campbell could push them over the top and get them a Cup.

yeah, but those teams won't give you a current roster player. Detroit or somebody will give you draft picks for him.
