View Full Version : Not the same Drury

I've watched him a few times this year, but last night really showed, he really isn't the same player with the Rangers as he was with us.

Maybe it's not being the top dog over there or not being the undisputed leader.

But he really didn't do anything last night and he really looked like a shell of the the guy we saw here over the last few years. He didn't seem to play with the passion and drive that he usually has.

It really makes you wonder how happy is there.

I like Drury, but I hope he regrets his decision and this whole thing blows up in his face.

I just don't see him being that type of player. I think his leaving was more about being a Ranger than anything. And he would have got the same $$$ here.

he blocked a few good shots on the PK...but other than that he really wasn't an 'impact' player last night.

on the same note, Jagr looked absolutely abysmal...he doesn't produce nearly as many scoring chances as he used to, took 2 lazy ass penalties and get this:

I was watching our PP run down once when Jagr was in the box. I was watching him sitting in the box as the clock ticked down to zero. Jagr wasn't even aware that the penalty was ending! He was sitting there, the box keeper guy actually had to tap him to get his attention to tell him it was his time to leave the box.

What a captain he is...:guy:

The Rangers aren't going anywhere this year or in the near future.

Take a look at their offseason:

-Over $20 million locked into Jagr, Drury and Gomez.

-Four of six defensemen becoming unrestricted free agents, along with Straka, Avery and Shanahan.

-Lundqvist, an RFA, might get an enormous offer sheet from a goaltender-needy team (Edmonton could use one) or at least get a big paycheck from the Rangers.

Glen Sather appears to have screwed that organization again. Twelve years, $85 million for Gomez and Drury is ludicrous.

Both Jagr and Drury did not look like they were playing to hard last night.

It looks like the cancer that is known as Jagr is draining the will and passion right out of Drury.

Drury's lack of any kind of impact in that game was a huge surprise to me. Briere seemed to have more fire in his belly when we played the Flyers for the first time this season, way more than Drury displayed. Weird. Really weird.

I also can't believe that Avery skates on his line....What a frickin' waste. Aside from a decent forcheck in one shift last night, the guy was flippin' terrible (just like in the playoffs). He's got Jagr, wide open and waiting for a pass on a 2 on 1, and instead takes a terribly weak wrist shot (he ALWAYS takes a terrible and weak wrist shot) that gets deflected over the glass....No shot on goal. He passes the puck into no-man's land and he's often off sides as well as out of position. That guy's entire career rests on his reputation as an aggitaitor, and that is it. So why play him with a skilled player like Drury? He's ****ing terrible.

Drury's play was odd to see. He'd never admit it, but you can tell he's not happy. His play says it. I can honestly say I can never remember him being so invisible with the Sabres.

He's not the leader of that team, and he knows it. He thrives on being the leader and handling the pressure.

The grass isn't always greener Chris Drury. You deserve the end of you career to be shit for going to play for that no character all star team.

If that's true, I hope Jagr plays another four years as captain of the Rangers.

Good, I hope he regrets every second of it. He had it made in Buffalo. The fans, the city, the cheap cost of living, the easy commute you really can't ask for much more for someone making $7million dollars.

$7million in Buffalo = $750,000 in NYC

Boring, low scoring hockey....the Rangers grotesquely overspending and missing the playoffs.... the Sabres top tier players leaving as soon as their contracts run out... is it 2003?
