How did the refs miss that? that was pretty obvious. i know it was cheap and all but maybe late in games the sabres need to do more of this kind of crap, they need to be more physical.

I don't want to the Sabres to make plays like that. He could've ended Macarthur's career. There's a difference between being a tough team (Anaheim) and being a cheap one (the Flyers.) It definitely should've been a penalty, even Shanahan said so. He's not generally a dirty player, but still, scary play...

We don't need to get suspensions...
Lindy went public with his opinions after the game that he wants the league to look at the incident with a possible suspension in mind.

I disagree. There are several players on this roster I wouldn't mind seeing suspended. If Ruff isn't going to scratch the likes of Ryan, Peters, and Kalinin, maybe Colin Campbell can save me from having to watch them play.

the league cant let plays like that go, even if it was unintentional, at least give a warning. that was a dirty play

None of the Sabre PLAYERS seemed to care about it. Nobody challenged Shanahan when it happened. Maybe they were trying to avoid a penalty.....I'll give them that. However, Shanahan was STILL ON THE ICE when the buzzer rang and he still wasn't challenged. Many players get checked from behind but usually the response isn't skate back to the bench while your team-mate lays motionless on the ice. Shame on the players, shame on Lindy. As soon as the buzzer rang somebody needed to be on top of Shanahan.

The time to make a statement should NEVER be after the final buzzer. EVER. There was plenty of time left in the game to do something about it. I thought that Peters was around for this kind of thing? Oh yeah, that's right. He's useless. I keep forgetting. (not really)

Shanny admited it was a bad hit.
“It was harder than I would have wanted,” said Shanahan. “It certainly warranted a penalty. I’m glad the kid didn’t get hurt. But it was one of those you think the game is over and all of a sudden the kid gets in too alone on the goalie. . . . It wasn’t premeditated in any way. It was just a function of playing the game hard until the buzzer.”

There was 9 seconds and they had to at least try to score.
There really was not a good time this game. Maybe Peters can grab him and swing wildly all while turning his head away next time they play.

I normally would never endorse fisticuffs after the horn however you have to at least send a message...wave your hands, raise your voice...something!!!!
Shanahan is normally a decent guy but it was a brutal and dangerous hit. (And I won't even mention the obvious tripping call that was missed 1 second before the crosscheck). The lack of response just shows that this team has no chemistry, no sense of purpose and no leadership.
This team is unwatchable in so many different ways right now.

whatever, shanny stopped the guy from a scoring chance, i will take that anyday. i am sure he did not mean for him to go head first in the post, but a cross check to the back? i am down with that.

The point is, he took a penalty to save a goal... It's a good play (he didn't mean to bury him like that, I believe that.) The point is, the ineptitude of the officials again. How the **** do these guys get away with being THIS BAD??? The league is back to pre-lockout interference levels, and it has everything to do with the monkeys calling the games. They let a little more slip every night until it looks like this.

Rendering Peters useless in yet another facet of the game.
