Barack Obama has opened up a 12-point led over rival Hillary Rodham Clinton in South Carolina, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey.
In the poll, Obama attracts 42 percent of the vote to Clinton's 30 percent. John Edwards is in third place with 14 percent, and no other Democrat gets more than 3 percent.
Clinton led Obama in the state by 10 points in November, and they were tied in December.
South Carolina's primary is Jan. 26.
