I am not sure if it has been posted about to death, but, does anyone believe that we can get a 3rd round pick for him?

In this years draft, i'll say no

Maybe you could get it in a conditional for the 2009

At best maybe a 4th this year but more than likely a 5th

I would keep him on the bench rather than taking a 5th rounder, let him be a backup in his contract year. Hopefully we won't need him but if we do he will be playing for a starting job and contract somewhere. If we don't use him in 08 then maybe he resigns to being a backup once he sees the limited interest in him.

I think we just pay his plane ticket to Miami and call it even at that.

After listening to his agent I dont think he wants that and I really dont think its an option anymore. He wants a chance to be a starter and he wont get it here in Buffalo

I dont think there is any chance he is on this roster by the start of mini camps or even the offseason programs

If we are not offered that or better he stays.

We just don't need to give him away.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you about that. If they can get an offer for him they like, he'll be gone, but otherwise his presence forestalls having to do anything this off-season at QB, which allows greater flexibility for the team. Ralph is already on record as saying he intends to hold Losman to his contract (a few weeks ago) in 2008 and his agent also explicitly said that while they hope the Bills trade him, he won't cause a problem in 2008. The only downside is they get nothing for him after next season. The Bills have the leverage and that doesn't change because of this press announcement. They'll do whatever is in the best interest of the team. Losman hasn't been treated unfairly by Jauron, despite what many claim. By Mularkey? Maybe, but not by Jauron.

Dont take what Ralph says to the press verbatim. Nobody in the front office will state publically that they are trying to move Losman it greatly decreases the value of what you can get for him in return and takes away most of your leverage

You have to again think again why his agent would state something like that. In this case its two fold. The first being he doesn't want Losman being labeled as a malcontent.

This is also doing the Bills a favor because he also realizes that if they ask out no matter what it really hinders the Bills ability to facilitate a trade as stated above. By saying this the Bills still have some leverage at the table. If in the future it doesn't look like a trade will happen you can bet his agent will then make another public statement about wanting Losmans out right release.

I see no way in which Losman is on this team in 2008. The tone of his agent suggest that Losman wants out ASAP but that they understand the process and and are willing to help the Bills out in a trade.

Losman wants out and, rightly so, wants to be on a team where he can at least compete for the starting job. That place is not Buffalo and its in best interest of the team for them to go there seprate ways

Granted the Bills may not want him and JP dosn't want to be here, but that being said, what's best for this team? IMO it's JP being here. Don't even look around the NFL, just look at our season last year, both QB's went down with injury. It's easy to say pick up a guy in FA, but who's going to be out there and after the rash of QB injuries last year what will a quality back-up QB's asking price be.
Regardless of what happens we are pinning our hopes on a QB, TE, who has shown little more than "poise" while in the pocket. I hope he works out, if he dose and he gets injured what do we turn to? At least if you bring back JP the guys respect him, the did vote him captian and you know what your going to get, as frieghteing as that may be for some. I say force him to come back as an insurance policy, draft a rookie, and if need be trade him away after an inevitable QB injury somewhere else in the NFL.

Go to the Hardcore Bills chat posts and look at the report about the NFL Blitz show on Sirius Radio.

Apparently they said on the radio that there is a possibility the Bills will give up a 3rd round pick and Losman for either D'Angelo Hall or Shaun Rodgers.

How long ago was that? I am not sure who I would pick in that situation. While I like the idea of Hall, it begins and ends up front. Does anyone know if Rodgers is THAT good? The Lions run defense was nothing to write home about last year. While Hall had a decent year, 70 tackles and 5 INTs.

Rodgers is that good....So good that I don't understand how this can be a viable option.

Then again...this is the Lions.

Really? I'd be happy if we got either one of them. I don't think Hall is an elite CB but he's definitely a #1 here if he came.

Actually we should wait for the right deal. The best times to trade him are
0 just before the draft (the new team can go into the draft with one less position to fill
0 just after the draft
....................somebody didn't get their target and still need a QB or
....................post-draft have extra veteran parts for exchange or
....................still need a QB or QB depth are willing to part with a 2009 pick
0 during the training camp when some starter gets injured

Now is a little too soon. We will probably get a 3rd round this year or 2nd round next year for Losman.
