One big blow after another. First, it was Joe Sakic, now its Ryan Smith. Smith will miss up to 8 weeks because of a broken ankle. With Sakic being out 8-12 weeks, this was a huge blow. Smith had 28 points in 37 games this season. How will the Avs deal with 2 of their leaders being out? Only time will tell.

That's GOD's way for punishing you for not being a Sabres fan.

Wow that sucks. Guess we'll have to see if the young guys have it and can step up. This is going to be a huge 8 weeks for Statsny, Wolski and Hedjuk, especially Hedjuk, who I'd assume is now the real leader of this team.

Seeing the way the Sabres are playing and are in the standings, I'll STILL take my chance with Colorado. The sad part is, the Sabres are 100% healthy. What their excuse this year? :D

Losing Sakic and Smyth sucks. But this team still has enough talent to win. The one positive is that Svatos is starting to play good hockey. Something he hasen't done for the past few years. But if we can get Liles, Leopold and Hannan all clicking, and more consistency in net from either Budaj or Theodore, then the Avs should be fine by the time those two come back which should be a little before playoff time.
