Growing up I always said "Merry Christmas" this time of year. That's probably due to being raised in South Buffalo and only knowing Catholics.
Saying "Happy Holidays" is easier cause you are including New Years....and are not offending anyone if they are not Christian. But.......WNY is mostly a Christian area
HOWEVER, I am not an overly religious person.......but it bothers me that the true meaning of Christmas has been replaced by Santa....shopping...etc. For real...Christmas is a religious holiday.
I buddy of mine (born and raised in West Seneca) was up for the "holiday" on 12/25 from DC and commented that he NEVER hears people wish another "Merry Christmas".........it's always "Holiday." He then commented that this centric view is why Buffalonians are backwards (yea, i cracked him in the head!!)
So.........what do you say and why?

I'm Catholic and I say Merry Christmas. A Jewish person I know "corrected" me the other day after I told her "Merry Christmas". She goes "No, it's Happy Holidays" and I said "No ! I prefer Merry Christmas !". She wavered and wished me a Merry Christmas. Heh heh ...
And I don't think it's a "Buffalo" thing. What about all the TV shows, songs, and movies over the years ? Charlie Brown Christams, A Christmas Story, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...just to name a few. The whole damn nation was raised with "Merry Christmas" ! Screw this politically correct "Happy Holidays" movement. I'm brining back MERRY CHRISTMAS, dammit !

Merry Christmas, if they don't like it, leave. ;) America was formed by God fearing men and when Jesus Christs Birthday comes it's Merry CHRISTmas.

It's Happy Holidays unless I know the person. If you want to be successful in business you learn to be PC. Offend one wrong person and it could mean you get held back.

America was formed by people who wanted religious freedom, so they could practice what they wanted, and not be subjected to others persecutions if they believe something different.
