Like Robert Esche two years before him, Ray Emery has flipped his lid and blown his cool.
Ray Emery, who has started just two games in the last eight, vented some frustration with his lack of playing time today. As he was leaving the ice, Emery slammed his stick on the boards then swung his stick, taking out the water bottles on top of the boards. As he was leaving, he hurled his stick into the stands. Neither general manager Bryan Murray nor head coach John Paddock had any comment on the incident saying they didn't see it take place. Murray said he wanted to speak with Emery after practice but that the goalie had left before he had a chance to speak with him... Martin Gerber will get the start in goal tonight when they host the Islanders. For New York, Wade Dubielewicz will make just his third start of the season with Rick DiPietro out. The Islanders said Thursday that DiPietro is day-to-day with a knee sprain... Both the Senators and Islanders held optional skates today. - TSN

Did a good job of shutting out the best offense in the league last year in the playoffs. eh hem, that means us.

The Sabres beat themselves in the playoffs. They had medicore offense at best. If it wasn't for Miller we wouldn't of beat the islanders. You cannot argue with that.

no but i can argue that emery played pretty solid in that series and the cup final. i love it when people say "they beat themselves" its like ottawa was not good at all. come on, they were awesome.

Emery played decent in the playoffs, not spectacular. I think Ottawa's defense was a well-oiled machine and that is why Ottawa beat Buffalo so soundly.
Look at it this way, if Emery and Miller hypothetically switched teams in that series last year, Ottawa sweeps Buffalo, and none of those games would have been less than 2 goal margins let alone overtime.

yeah i guess, i still think emery is decent though, ottawa should look to trade him now

And what exactly does that have to do with stopping the puck? That's like saying "Yeah, but Peters is better at stopping the puck in shootouts." Obviously he's not. But that would mean absolutely nothing considering Peters job is to enforce...Not stop the puck. Emery's job is to make saves. Whether or not he can beat one of the worst enforcers in Sabres history in a fight has nothing to do with anything.

Whoa...let's not get crazy...did you watch the cup finals? Anaheim forechecked the ever living piss out of the up-till-that-point unstoppable and hands down toughest in the east Oshwa defense.
When that happened Emery was like a tender wound that just had the scab ripped off.
He was the lone castaway on Suck Island in that series because his punishing defensemen were taken out of that series.

Are you joking? He was alright, but hardly the reason we lost to the Senators. Ottawa's defense shut us down. Volchenkov made more saves than anyone.

Hey Scary, if you supported a good team you wouldn't think about the Senators so much.
Emery is not playing because Gerber is just too damn good at the moment. Not because he has not been playing well.Hey Ray, if you were good...you'd play.

So now the team with one of the best records in the entire league since the lockout isn't good, huh? You'd think that with all the time you took off from here, you'd come back and at least have some accurate information to throw around. Silly me.

Ottawa: 125 regular season wins
Buffalo: 124 regular season wins

I really don't remember using the lockout as my timeframe when saying the Sabres aren't any good but thanks for creating that. My point is that as of this exact moment the Sabres aren't very good.

You just can't make any valid point at all here, can you? The Sabres are in a playoff spot today. They've gone 13-5 in their last 18 games. Get your facts straight, then come back and try to throw your arrogance around. You may improve at it.

Since the lockout:
Ottawa: 1 Stanley Cup apperance.
Buffalo: 0 Stanley Cup apperances.
Since their win totals are about the same, I'd have to give the edge to Ottawa being better since the lockout due to their apperance in the finals, which Buffalo failed to reach in both attemps.

Dynamite drop in, traitor. Way to jump to the aid of the arrogant Sens fan.
Perhaps the edge does go to Ottawa over that amount of time. It still doesn't validate his initial point. Good effort.

I'm not arguing with your stats or your take. I'm just saying I'm not surprised that you would be the one to bring that up.
You can argue it both ways.
Since the lockout: Sabres: 20 postseason wins
Senators: 18 postseason wins
You can regurgitate stats until the cows come home.
But, the fact remains, if anyone was going to side with the Sens fan, I bet 90% of the Range would predict it would be you...or bduff.

Most likely, yeah. I like to even things up around here, make things interesting. Whats wrong with two sides to each story? Half the time its for a reaction to see everyone flip out, its kinda funny.

nottawa beat bflo because they dedicated their entire hockey lives, no their entire lives, to beating buffalo in the playoffs
they spent extra time during the season to break down what made the sabres so good
they said little prayers before they went to sleep that they meet buffalo in the playoffs
they wrote the zip code of every sabre on their sticks
they sat cross legged on the floor and meditated on buffalo until they worked themselves into a trace and spoke in buffalo tongues
they wore garlic around their necks and carried little sabres dolls in their hockey bags stuck full of pins
they came out breathing fire dedicated to knocking the king off the hill while the lackluster sabres were fighting a losing battle with front runner expectations
the presidents trophy was their albatross. and if they come close to sniffing that pedestal again in the next few years im gonna give a couple of them the tanya harding treatment

Settle down Thumper...you are starting to attack your own kind. I can walk in here and state that I don't think the Sabres are that good. I don't believe they are. I am looking at the roster, not the stats. The lack of roster depth will expose itself by the end of the season. When a guy like Brian Campbell thinks he deserves $5 million a season you know you are looking at a guy who thinks he is a superstar because there isn't much better he has to look at on his own squad. He would struggle to make Ottawa's 2nd line.
Admittal is the first step and then you will be able to deal with your anger issues with a more heads on approach. You just can't make any valid point at all here, can you?
