if you were going to pay to have a game thrown, it would look a lot like the game vs. Ottawa last night..

i was at the game so i could've missed a lot, the big one was the no call on Roy, but that could've been because he's known as a diver, still no excuse not to call it if it happened. although they did give the sabres a chance to tie the game at the end. you'd figure if it was fixed you wouldn't have seen that.

one thing ive noticed about officiating & the sabres is, whenever Bill McCreary officiates sabres games, very rarely do they win those games.

There is no accountablility in the NHL regarding referrees. The league needs to dock pay on referees that blatenly blow calls like that hook on Roy when he was one on one with Gerber.
I've seen this the few times that Bill McCreary has officiated our games, including last years playoff series with Ottawa. He obviously hates Buffalo.
I'm not going to generalize all the referees, I believe most of them are fair. But I was on the website of the NHL officials, and I was shocked to find that 34 of the 39 referees in the league are Canadian. Not that there is any conspiracy or anything.

Blaming NHL officiating isn't something that's the norm for me, but I've railed against last night's reffing since the game was going on. To not call either a hook, trip or hold after Roy was pulled down on a breakaway or whistle Neil for goalie interference was beyond deplorable. And there's no doubt Ottawa was aided by each of those two no-calls; that's inarguable.

Agreed, or the ticky tack interference calls we get that don't seem to be whistled against other teams.
But whatever, we're Buffalo fans, we're used to it...

the officiating was horrible last night, the refs had to have had money on that game that the sens would win. one sens goal should have been taken away because of goalie interference on ottawa's part, and the hook AND trip on roy when he was shooting on goal should have been at least a penalty, if not a penalty shot.

shouldn't there have been a penalty after Roy was tripped-Ottawa fired it over the glass.

I thought so too, but the face-off ended up outside the Ottawa blueline, which must of meant that they thought that a Buffalo player deflected it. I don't see how, but that had to be the call.

Here's something I've been using to help me get through the officiating : Officiating was bad in the past, is bad now, and will be forever bad. Plant that in your heads and it'll help you get through the games. There is no conspiracy - bad or missed calls are just part of the game.

I don't think it was a conspiracy...I just think the refs are inconsistent.
That inconsistency was a big reason why Oshwa went up in the second period - I mean the Sens were getting murdered with the momentum we were giving them.
Officiating inconsistency in the NHL is just one of the many reasons why I think Gary Bettman can suck a bag of dicks.
