Sources close to University President Mike Garrison have informed WBGV that Nick Saban’s agent has contacted WVU regarding our vacant head-coaching position.

These sources tell us that Saban is extremely unhappy in Tuscaloosa and has failed to recapture the situation he had in Baton Rouge with LSU. The purpose of the agent’s call was to express initial interest in the position and to have WVU athletics put together a compensation package enough to lure Saban from Alabama. This package would not need to be as much as Saban is currently making at Alabama, but enough to not result in a 50% paycut. So, we’re obviously talking more than the $1.9 million former coach Rich Rodriguez was making.http://wbgv.wordpress.com/2007/12/17/nick-sabans-agent-contacts-wvu/

Wow, are we serious here?

This guy is a total D-bag. Why don't you take a couple years and fix the problems you knew you had in the first place instead of running away from them?

Nick Saban leaving Alabama would be a catastrophic event, perhaps worse than Chernobyl, Pearl Harbor or even 9-11. It'd be interesting to see how the program would recover from that.

I'm sorry... Based on his presser from last year, saying he wasn't leaving the Dolphins, Alabama should have seen this coming if there was trouble.

That being said, I wouldn't believe Saban if he said the Earth was round. The guy has no credibility with anything he says anymore.

A few things here:

1. I don't believe it for one second, mainly because that's.......just......well.......a little hard to believe. BUT, of course, who the hell knows anymore with these guys and schools.

2. Saban is from West Virginia.

3. The article states that Saban's agent contacted the school. THAT is probably true. Why wouldn't he? His agent is Jimmy Sexton, who represents about 10-15 of the highest paid coaches in college football, plus other coaches. If he didn't call WVU and inquire for at least one of his clients, he wouldn't be doing his job very well.

I think someone is taking some liberties with this report.

If I were West Virginia I wouldn't hire him. He'll be going off somewhere else next year.
