WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nearly two-thirds of Americans say they believe the Constitution guarantees each person the right to own a gun, according to a poll released Sunday.
In all, 65 percent said they thought the Constitution ensures that right, and 31 percent said it did not. The question had a sampling error of plus-or-minus 3 points.
Men and people living in rural areas were most likely to say the Constitution guarantees the right to own a gun.
Nearly three quarters of men (72 percent) said they believed so, versus 26 percent who did not. More than half (58 percent) of women said they believed so, versus slightly more than a third (35 percent) who did not.
That question had a sampling error of plus-or-minus 4.5 points.
Among rural dwellers, 73 percent said they agreed, versus 64 percent and only half (50 percent) of city dwellers who thought the same.

1. You have to read it first.
2. Reading comprehension helps too.

You do know that amendment is all one sentence, right? What does that tell your reading comprehension?

You do know that "that semicolon" doesn't imply what anti-gun nuts think it does, don't you?
I did extraordinarily well on my GRE's thank you. Better than you in fact.
Read the DC Court's opinion.

Did you do well enough to know that there are no semi-colons in the Second Amendment?
Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

And Pete, you cannot do better than 99% percentile.

I read it as one sentence, two statements. It's written as 'why, what'. Reversing the statements reads as:
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, because a well regulated militia is necessary for the security of a free state.

Anyone here who believes for an instant that aqua got 99% on the GRE (which section, genius man??), raise your hand.
I didn't think so.
(yet more evidence that he thinks he's smarter than the rest of us, by the way)

LOL! Right?? Why don't we revert back to the SAT's too?? Haha. Please, someone explain to me how the GRE's justifies intelligence. Why don't we start talking about IQ's. Oh, and btw, while nothing you say can actually be backed up. Haha. Btw, I got a 16000 on the GRE's. No, that's not a typo, I just did that much better than everyone else. That's why I'm a fysicist.

The plutocrats can't decide who they want to select for president so they send a pair (a dem and a rep) to the polls for the public "to vote" on who they "want". If they really desire someone (Bush) they'll just rig the whole damn thing.
Problem. No one annointed Ron Paul for selection and he's threatening to ruin the whole ****ing party.

My IQ was 148, but after years of drink, drugs, and debauchery it's probably a little less.

I think Pete is arguing that he knows the meaning of the constitution because he did so well on the reading section of the Graduate Record Exam. I do not think he is claiming that this makes him intelligent. The GRE shows that you know sentence structure and word definitions etc. it is not an IQ test.

Being all part of one sentence, and four dependent clauses, what does the Amendment tell you?

Mine's actually higher now, because it's so much visual mathematics. Which is what I do. That's what's weird about the test. Intelligence is not just two categories, and that's sort of what I was saying.
As far as the amendment goes. I think most people 'know' what they've been taught. "Right to bear arms" means the right to have a gun. That's what everyone was told since they were wee little lads. What does it really mean?? Clearly that I can wear a wife beater anywhere I go.

You can have my gun(s) when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

It tells other people that a standing army was the greatest fear of the Founding Fathers and that we lost our Republic many years ago.
