That's two fights in a row now where he's actually been willing to get hit in order to land punches of his own. I've always been like this....I'll give credit where credit is due. Peters deserves a hat tip from me for his last two fights. I'm probably his biggest critic on this board. But I'll also speak up when he does something I like. Last night in Anaheim, one of our defenseman got caught and it almost became a 2-1 for the Ducks. Peters was the winger that got back and prevented a play in front of the net from happening. That was great to see. Mind you, I still think he could be much better at fighting with his size and reach if he'd only keep distance from his opponent, which would normally give him a great advantage. But it was actually tolerable watching him fight the last two times. He fought with more intensity. Keep it up, Andrew.

Peters was all fired up last night. Did you see him on the bench at the end of the game? And how about the gestures from the Penalty box to Parros - great.

I was upset the Sabres lost last night, but I'm OK with it because I saw something I hadn't seen in a while - teammates sticking up for each other. Jochen, Max, Goose, Pratt, Spacek, Roy, Peters, Mair - all willing to get a little bit nasty and stick their noses in for the sake of the Sabres and their teammates.

As soon as I got a good look at Parros, I was wondering if he just stepped out of a 70's Porn....lol:guy:

I disagree. I'm in the same boat as you Thumper. I'm dying to give the guy credit, especially coming off a game with two fights. But his entire style is centered around not taking a punch. He has a long reach, he gets a hold of the others guys sweater and holds his head way the hell out of the way, and then throws haymakers, 99% of which completely wiff.

Here's a couple guys who aren't afraid to take a punch. That's not Peters at all.

Exactly. He's extremely afraid of getting hit. I've never seen a so-called 'enforcer' never have a cut or a bruise on his face for entire seasons. But that's Peters for you. But his last couple fights he hasn't been only concentrating on not getting hit. He's still turning his head....I think he always will. But at least the last couple times haven't been embarrassing to watch.

Is this the first time people have seen Parros?

He's had that stache for like 3 years...

Nice post, Thumper. He did have a huge backcheck last night on the 2-1. Also, he was very fired up with people taking hard checks, and going towards Miller etc. We can all see why he's on this team now...Mair didn't want anything to do with Parros, and we'll try to pretend that Gaustad didn't get rocked by Bertuzzi. By the way, Peters with 5:39, more solid 4th line minutes, he's been earning it.

Well, I think Mair would fight anyone in the league if he had too. I've always understood the role of an enforcer. It's so that a guy like Mair, or anyone else on the roster, doesn't have to fight anyone in the league. Peters just hasn't been effective in that role as much as he should be. Maybe he's turning the corner though and maybe he's realizing that sometimes, he's got to get hurt himself if it means getting a chance to hurt the other guy even more.

And Gaustad definitely didn't get "rocked" by Bertuzzi. Bert landed one punch at the end....It was a nice punch, a strong punch. But I wouldn't call that "rocked" at all.

watch closer. He missed a punch and was already on his way down from being off balance. I don't even think the punch connected.

The Peters fights with Parros did absolutely nothing to deter the Ducks from continually pounding the Sabres. How is fighting Parros going to stop Getzlaf from hitting Vanek? Goon vs. Goon is purely an act of entertainment and has no bearing on the game whatsoever.

Gaustad had already lost balance from throwing a right hay-maker that he missed on. Then Bertuzzi caught him with a solid punch. Bertuzzi definitely won the fight. I'd just never consider that getting "rocked". That's all.

Goon versus Goon, Act of Entertainment, whatever...He fought harder than usual. That's all I'm saying here.
