It's bull. I'm sure Crawford wanted someone to hit/fight Moore, but no one in their right mind would tell someone to go and suckerpunch someone from behind. Todd Bertuzzi is the one and on ly guilty party here. I wish people would drop this and move on.

I've seen/heard Lindy and all other hockey coaches do the same all the time: witness the big fit after Neil's bullshit hit on Drury last year.
I don't know if it's good for hockey or not, but policing your own seems like a reasonable thing to do when the on-ice officials and league office can't seem to get it right.
Now if we can just get Fewell to put the word out to injure Marcia.........

That's right. Making Moore pay doesn't mean driving his head directly into the ice from behind. It also doesn't mean sucker punching him from behind.
By the time 2 periods was over, hadn't Moore already fought Brad May and taken numerous hardcore bodychecks? What does a guy need to do?

I agree, but why should it come from the coach who said he should pay the price? It's not like he walked up to Bertuzzi and said "Go jump on his back and do whatever you can to make sure he never plays hockey again." I'm sure he had nothing like that in mind, and if anything he probably just wanted to see a fight or a legit hit to send a message. Ruff has done the same. What if after the infamous "Go out and run em," Peters jumped on Neil's back and paralyzed the guy? Should Ruff be sued?
In my totally uneducated legal opinion, I would think they don't have too much of a case here against the coach, and the responsibility lies solely on Bertuzzi. It would be different if this was a coach saying something like this to a minor, but this is someone who was 29 years old at the time playing sports at a professional level after almost 10 seasons in the league.
Keep in mind that these are claims by Bertuzzi and the Canucks GM. So basically, the reason that this has even come out is because Todd Bertuzzi is trying to get out of legal responsibility or paying any money to Moore, and the Canucks organization is trying to save face.
So yes bluetubist, this is definitely lawyers grasping at straws, ya groaner. ;)

Crawford is a POS period. How is anyone surprised by this?? He and Hartley are both pussies. Look at what the Trash did whenever they were getting handled. They'd throw out Bolton, who frankly makes Peters look like an allstar. With that being said, Bert is to blame on that. I don't think he wanted to end the guys career, just show him that if you hit their star you pay. Moore should get an ass load of money. Let's assume that he would've played another 5 years at 1 mil per. That's 5 million right there that he didn't make because of this crap. He should get at least that.

Coaches do this all the time. But there is nothing that can deflect total blame of what ended up being the result. Bertuzzi is lucky to be in this league and I am surprised he hasn't been dealt with by the players or the players association.

So.........Ruff told his players to "run them". Crawford maybe wanted to start a fight with Moore. Betuzzi took it to a different level.

for sure, i don't think the coach is liable at all, i am sure he wanted somebody to fight moore again. not try to kill him

Bertuzzi shouldn't even see the ice anymore.
