If I were going to buy one which would I get and why? I like the Wii games, the interactive bowling, tennis etc.. I'm not much of a hard core or light core gamer either. Now that I finally got my big screen tv I want to have fun with it.
Thanks!

You're not gonna find a Wii, if that's what your after. I mean, you could if you put a lot of effort into it. Starting on November 1st, I went to EB Games every day during my lunch to see if they got any in. Around the 20th, I got lucky. They got 9 in and I got the second last one. Can't wait for Christmas ... the kids are gonna freak out. Oh, and if you do find one, you'll be suprised by the offers people will try to give you for it ...
The PS2 is still a pretty good system. I think you can get them for $129. If you're a lite gamer, this might be the sysetm you're looking for.
I was a SONY supporter forever, but the PS3 sounds like a failure to me. TOO expensive.
The XBOX 360 seems to be kicking major ass. You can get an "Arcade" bundle for $279 - which is what I got my son for Christmas. I guess the Arcade bundle comes with like 5 arcade-style games. I don't even know, I just got it for my son 'cuz he wants to play a certain wrestling game on it. Great graphics, tons of games are out there for it, and a good price (for the Arcade bundle).

I can wait until after the new year, no biggy. I found a site www.wiitracker.com it tracks them, cool. You can grab one on ebay too, no wait for @500.

i personally own the xbox 360 and the ps2, also i bought my sister a wii for her birthday several months ago.
I'd say the 360 is my favorite system of the bunch , great graphics , mid range price and a huge selection of games. The arcade package is good but i'd suggest going with the version that comes with a hard drive so you can save your games , i believe the arcade bundle only comes with a memory card.
The wii is a pretty good system in it's own right also , the graphics aren't really state of the art (they are about on par or a bit better than the ps2. However the controls for the wii are very fun and easy to use. They have a decent selection of games so far though i find most of them to be more family oriented.
The ps3 in its current state really doesnt appeal to me , they have the smallest selction of games with very few titles that arent already available for the xbox 360, The price tag is also the highest of the new systems.
Ps2 is a reliable system with a huge library of games , and is quite cheap by comparison. They are releasing fewer games for the system now that the ps3 is out and most likely wont be adding many new games in the future. The system also has last gen graphics , which while good for it's time really don't compare to the newest systems.
Take it for what its worth , my personal pick is the 360 but it really all depends on what you're looking for.

the wii is really fun. don't take "we don't have one" for an answer. tell the salesgeek you will buy 4 games with it if he hooks you up. they are out there.
it's fun to play madden w/ the controller. you have to sortof throw the ball. i can't wait for hockey so i can run into stuff.
also - zelda and mario trump all other games, IMO. and the zelda for the wii is AMAZING.

The Wii isn't HD so it wont take advantage of your new TV the way the others will.

Most of the "in house" Nintendo titles are unreal; particularly ones carried on from the 80's.
Zelda and Metroid are both amazing. I'm guessing Mario is too but I haven't gotten it yet.
I'm not bored with Wii Sports yet either.

I would personally go with the 360. I own a 360 and a Ps2. I love my sexbox 360, NHL 08 is outstanding, Call of Duty 4 multiplayer is insane. There's a huge selection of great games. I have played the Wii multiple times, Wii sports is a lot of fun, I played the bowling, boxing and baseball so much that my arms were sore for about 2 weeks. It took me a while to get used to playing games on the wii. that Metroid game was pretty fun, and so was Zelda. I have no experience with the ps3, a few of my buddy's have them, they say it's a good system but there's not too many games for it that you can't get for the 360. They recommended the 360 because it's cheaper, just as fun, and have a much better selection of games that are already out, and games that will be coming out in the future. As for the ps2, Funk Soulja said it best. Hope this help's you out. 360 !!!

I was always a big Playstation supporter but I got to borrow the Xbox 360 from my brother in law for a bit and outright purchased it from him after having it only a week.
The graphics are awesome, will take full advantage of your big TV (I have a rearview Mitsubishi HD ready 56 inch theatre style - and will never play PC games again!) and the online play is easy and inexpensive - it's called Xbox LIVE (they have price breaks for how many months you are interested in playing - 7 dollars a month or 50 bucks a year. I picked monthly because I wasn't sure how long I'd play online - but I've been digging it so I'm probably going to go to a 3 month)
I do drool over some of the PS3 games that are coming out...but Xbox 360 was cheaper and seem to have quite a bit of games to choose from.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the systems. The PS3 has a lack of games, but it's quietly starting to pick up steam and just got cheaper to boot. You may also want to consider maybe buying a pimped out PC(or media center) to hook up to your TV. That's what I do at home. Half Life is DOPE on my 46 inch and the games have graphics that are superior to what you'll find in any of the consoles. Also, if you have a party you can string up an MP3 playlist and bump it while using your TV as a Visualizer... that would be mad pimp with a 50+ inch TV. :niterider

Here are my top 3: I own the 360 and the Wii.
Xbox 360- The original X-Box was shit the PS2 took the cake on it but this time around the 360 is king. Here are some reasons. For one the online play is the best, nothing beats Xbox Live. Second is because of the game titles and the amount of games. Xbox has by far the best and most games hands down and will always have the most games. Another reason is minor but could end up being major is that X-Box extended their basic warranty to 3 years. In video game terms this deal is crazy good. And the last reason to get one this holiday is that X-box dropped the price of their systems by $50 and for the holidays released the system with two free games (Forza Motorsport and Marvel Ultimate Alliance) basically $90 of games for free. If you are gonna buy the 360 get the Pro bundle for $350. It's the best value and comes with 2 free games.
Wii- The Wii even though graphically the worst it's the best party system. Especially if you have a bunch of friends over and are drunk and are trying to box each other on Wii Sports. The Wii doesn't have many adult titles, it's more of a family system. If you like hunting, fishing, bowling, and Mario games this is the system for you. They just released a cool Wii gun that you can use to shoot the screen for games like Resident Evil and Duck Hunt. The Wii also is putting all the old Nintendo,Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and some Sega games online to download onto the Wii so you can play. The Wii is also the cheapest system at $250. As far as reliability goes Nintendo is always the best, I mean my original Nintendo still works from 1987.
PS3- Ok honestly it is hard to say anything good about the PS3. The PS3 does have a great system core. By that I mean has great potential graphically. The problem is they have all that power and can't use it. Game developers hate developing for the PS3 since it's so hard, hence the reason for barely any games. When the developers actually make a game for the PS3 it's made worse than the same game for the 360. For example all the EA Sports games on the 360 run at 60 frames per second (which means a smooth looking and feeling game, best you can get) and the same games for the PS3 run at 30 fps. Every one will defend the PS3 saying yeah but later they will get better games. That is true but the problem is that PS3 lost all it's exclusive 3rd party games to the 360. So now you can play Grand Theft Auto, Ace Combat and Devil May Cry and a bunch of other games, all previous PS titles on the 360 with far superior online play. Sure the PS3 will get some good games here and there but not enough to beat the already massive amounts of great and well made good games for the 360. Another downside of the PS3 is they are voiding warranties due to having dust on your system. yes it sounds crazy but it's true and many PS3 owners are going to file lawsuits. Don't believe me check this out, http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/132329.html . It's hard to call the PS3 anything but an expensive paper weight.
Overall I would rather by a X-Box 360 and a Wii for the price of one PS3. Here is a link if you want to check out a buyers guide for some of the top games that were released for Christmas for each system. http://buyersguide.ign.com/2007/. You can take my opinion for what it's worth but I've been a video game nut since I was 4 and have worked in retail for a few stores in the electronics section for a combined 7 years or so and I hold no biased to any system. I know I'm gonna get attacked by PS3 owners, but honestly give me one valid reason to buy one over the other systems. I loved the PS2 but the PS3 was just a very powerful system released waaaaaaay to fast. I'm sure the PS3 will become good but IMO not until late next year or the year after and when they drop the price. I hope this helps you in deciding. If you buy any system and need to know what games are good let me know, I've pretty much played them all.

PS3 I will not back down from that either. Regardless what all the other say. I've loved it since day 1. The dust issue is plain retarded. Clean your god damn house and dust off your box and the issue becomes non-exsistant. Where else will you find a Blu-ray player for under $600. But I digress.....I'm a sony mark therefor feel obligated to defend what I like. To each his own.

Games 360
Technology PS3
If you have kids Wii
Overall he 360 has many more games and since most games are multiplatform they generally run better on the 360 since they are made for it then ported to he PS3 unless you like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy and can't live without them then you should get a PS3 but in the end the 360 is the better gaming machine.

Actually if you look at buy.com or amazon ore than likely you can get a 13 month card for under $30 and the xbox live service is leaps and bounds better than the PS3 or Wii services.

Be right if you are going to correct me. 480p is digital picture not HD. It is an upgrade over SDTV, but it it truly only considered EDTV.

Earlier this year, I bought a Wii. It was fun, great for parties, and cheap!
All that being said, I sold it on Ebay a couple of months after buying it so I could buy an Xbox 360. Why?
1. The 360 had more games either already released or being released within a year that I wanted to play. (Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, Forza, GTA IV, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Mass Effect being the big ones) Looking at the Wii's lineup and what was to come, nothing excited me except for Zelda, Mario, and Metroid.
2. I like playing online...and online gaming on the Wii is pretty much dogshit. Few games support online multiplayer, and the "friend code" system they use is retarded.
I'll probably get another Wii once we start seeing more game developers use the Wiimote to its fullest potential...instead of a bunch of Gamecube games with a few motion controls thrown in.
But then again, I play a lot of videogames. If you're just looking for something to kill a bit of time here and there, the Wii is a great choice. Just don't expect it to be much of a showcase for your big TV.
The PS3, with the latest price drop, is no longer ridiculously expensive. But I'd hold off on getting one unless you want a bluray player. Right now, they don't have very many great games that I couldn't play on my 360.

billsman what did you end up scooping??
all 3 definetly have their advantages. the wii is just fun as hell. xbox is so solid ( recently scooped a 360 myself) and the ps3 with the bluray player is a great feature.
but i did hear that the blu ray player will be rather dated once new blu ray playrs start coming out. they're goign to have a lot of awesome features on a new blu ray dvd player's later on this year. but if you just want to watch a dvd, and it's goign to ahve to be on blu ray, ps3 not bad.
honestly though, i'd prefer to have an xbox/ps3 along with a wii. the wii's gameplay is ridiculously fun. and you can definetly have some fun with your guy's, or with the family playing that. good for $1 bets, drinking games, per hole, or task etc. a lot of fun to be had no matter what the choice though.
