The media has no agenda in this. Anyone can participate.
And if you believe that....
BTW. That's 120 minutes of time, 9 candidates. Each should get 120/9 ~ 13 minutes each.
Ron got 3/(120/3) = 22.5% of the time that should have been equitably distributed. CNN made the DECISION to give that time to someone else. Afterall the power brokers in the media don't try to electioneer outcomes, do they?

An alternative hypothesis is that CNN reads poll numbers (re: does not manufacture them) and knows that they need to show the people that citizens want to see, since there are nine guys on the stage, or else people will not watch.

Haa. Circular reasoning. To get air time you need to be popular.
To gain popularity you need name recognition and your message heard, which will not happen if you don't get debate exposure.

It's a bullshit system. Even if that is the case, they're taking a select group of individuals and believing that is the countries opinion. The correct debate style was the one PBS ran. Left to right, everyone answers the SAME question, everyone gets the same amount of time. Then they shift it so the next person gets to answer first.

That gose right the point that Ron Paul is the only one that has a clue.
Maybe so, but I still doubt he wins the nomination. He does not have the infrastructure within the Republican party. But, Clinton came out of nowhere so there is hope for Dr. Paul, with all his money.

You are right. But PBS is not really concerned with ratings. They always come in last.

Haa. Circular reasoning. To get air time you need to be popular.
To gain popularity you need name recognition and your message heard, which will not happen if you don't get debate exposure.
The game is rigged Aqua. And all the candidates should get equal time.
That is not circular reasoning. Paul can still make a big slash with all that money. You need to be out there in the public's eye to get name recognition.
He should get a professional campaign manager the way he talked about not knowing what to do with all the money that was donated to him: someone who will make him all shiney, talk in soundbytes, and turn him to the dark side...yeah...then he'll have a chance.

Did you see my thread on the media and Columbine? Evidence piles up Aqua.
~Groan~ I guess it's more psychologically comforting to chaulk all this up to ratings and greed.

I trust them to act in a certain way. They are only irresponsible if you think it is part of their contract with the people to do things in our interest instead of doing things that are good for business.

I do not chaulk it up to anything, you do. You have decided their motivation. I only offered an alternative hypothesis. You discount my alternative because it does not fit your views.

No. It doesn't fit the evidence aqua. Your model has too many of "life's little inconsistencies" in it. I believe mine has orders of magnitude less. Have you yet checked out anything that I asked you too? Columbine is right from the book that I told you about.

An alternative hypothesis is that CNN reads poll numbers (re: does not manufacture them) and knows that they need to show the people that citizens want to see, since there are nine guys on the stage, or else people will not watch.
I do not hear you all complaining that we did not get to see enough of other guys, just your guy.

Fat chance. I mentioned that people buy into your "hypothesis" in another thread and you went off. So to me this is NOT the first time you have brought this up. And for you to get so bent about it means that you are feigning the "hypothesis" angle. You know it. I know it. We had a lengthy exchange on this. Therefore, my assertion that this is the first time that you mentioned it in terms of a hypothesis is valid.

You said it was the first time I used the word hypothesis, I proved you wrong. You said that you are one of the few who when proved wrong admit it. That's all. I do not really car if you do, just want to see if you are honest.

I think Fred Thompson would make a great president. . . in a made for TV movie.
Vote Ron Paul Masson: "We sell no whine before its time."
If Mitt Romney wore holey blue jeans and a torn up flannel shirt, he'd still look like a life size Ken doll (Ken and Barbie). If I saw him in person I'd be tempted to feel him to see if he was plastic.
White people aren't actually white, except for John McCain.
If Rudy Guiliani ran unopposed I would think he'd have trouble winning a presidential election. On a likeability scale he scores about a minus 5.

When the one person held up a bible and asked if the candidates believed every single word in it, and said their answer would tell them everything they need to know about them.
WTF WTF WTF My head almost exploded. And though Guiliani had the most reasonable answer, none of them got it right.
the right answer would have been the only possible Constitutionally permissible answer:
Article.VI. . . . no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
Of course we already know how little regard the republicans have for the constitution, so I should not have been shocked, still (shaking head) WTF
