The Detroit fans in disgusted me, they booed the canadian national anthem!!!!! i have been too more than 60-70 sporting events here in toronto and i have never once heard the U.S. anthem being booed. All this following 4 canadian soldiers killed by friendly fire just a few days ago. disgusting!!!

You'd think people living in or near a border city like Detroit would know better.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Canadians do their (our) part in lambsting the US as well, we are just more passive aggressive about it.

Booing a national anthem is way over the line. It's one thing to have a good-natured rivalryt. Another thing to openly insult another country and disgrace your own in the process.

Expos Marlins game opening day, a bunch of idiot Expo fans were yelling obscenities and booing during the 9:11 moment of silence. There's idiots on both sides of the border.

If that is correct it is a disgrace.
I am currently researching the fight put up by the 3rd Canadian Division on Juno Beach and beyond after D-Day. Any ass who would boo "Oh Canada" should be forced to read an account of the stand of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles v the 12 SS Panzer Division at the village of Putot. Our Canadian friends deserve more respect than that.

If the olympics were in Detroit, they'd probably root for the Russians. These are the same people that cheered Bill Laimbeer and have the highest murder rate in the country.
Really disgraceful and embarassing; Toronto is basically an American city anyways.

Quebec is a whole different story.
Judge, it is just tit for tat, while it is a classless thing to boo a national anthem, it is far from surprising.

Remember, it is Detroit. Home of the first really good winners riot. Remember after the 1984 Tigers won the WS the city almost burned down. That was the start of the "We just won the Cup,WS,SB, NCAA Title, lets burn down our town".
Got to be known for something.

It is revolting and embarrasing. I heard the westerners boo the American anthem last bight and as a Canadian I was outraged and embarrassed. On behalf of the rest of eastern Canada, my sicerest alopolgies. If it weren't for the US sitting right beside us watcing our backs, there'd probably be no such thing as Canada. God Bless America!

It was terrible. I don't know why they would be the anthem, but it is Detroit.

Totally classless act by anyone, stooping down as far as to boo another country's National Anthem. I thought that after 9/11 we would really eliminate these ignorant acts upon each other!! Man that didn't last long. My appologies to all our Canadian friends.

These are Detriot citizens we are taking about people, they have no class.
As for the fiasco in Van last night, I think they heard what happened in Det and retalliated. Because of the time zone difference they would have heard about the Pistons fans booing Oh Canada. I do not know if it even happened in Vancouver, just speculating as to why.
It matters not. It is disrespectful to boo any country's anthem or flag or symbol of any kind.
PS, I think anyone who keeps their hat on during an anthem is showing just as much disrespect.

Pretty Lame-
I say we nuke Detroit and be done with it.....

Yep. I am one of the only ones that holds my hand to my heart during the NA. WTF happened to patriotism? The lame bastards eating their 6 hot dogs during the NA with their hats on are the ones that try to make up for their unpatriotic guilt by placing 10 flags on their cars post 9/11. This seemed to wear off.
You know what else pisses me off? When the MF's start cheering when the singer is only about 3/4 done. I feel like punching the ***** rude MF's.
Don't get me started....
BTW, Oh Canada is a beautiful song. Probably the same MF’s that don’t respect the NA disrespect Oh Canada.

How about last night's (4/28) game in Long Island. You couldn't hear O Canada for the booing.
Ignorant & classless fans, that's all I can say.

I think that was a statement against the Leafs, not Canada as a whole. Thats just the way the LI fans (and I'm not one) choose to voice their anger over the perceived dirty play by Toronto in game 5.

it horrible. the ACC fans on friday gave the star spnagled a standing ovation and this what they get in return. classless, who is teaching these people in school???

At least 4 more games that the Leafs can enjoy without worrying about anthem-booing meatheads.
