The Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills 56-10 Sunday night and the Core 2 Quad does about the same number on the Phenom. Let's put it this way, before you weep your way through the Anand article, a stock Q6600 at 2.4GHz beats the stock Phenom 9900 at 2.6Ghz in nearly every bench or test. Let's not even talk about overclockability as it is a sadder story than the above.

This chip is so bad that it is now time to think about AMD not surviving the next year. In fact, I don't think they will. I believe that we AMD lovers of yore will be saying goodbye to the company we know as AMD fairly soon as the cash is not there and the stock is falling fast.
The good news is that there is supposedly some very, very deep pockets out there just waiting for the wheels to completely come off the cart and the AMD/ATI stock price to hit absolute rock bottom before they buy the company, and its x86 license, lock stock and barrel. This may change the whole landscape and may be the reason Intel is pushing so hard on newer chips even though the competition is effectively gone. Can you imagine AMD with billions upon billions of dollars behind them? Although it is sad to say farewell to the AMD of old, the AMD of the future may be a lot more interesting.
